Overview of position

Under the overall supervision of National Health Operation Officer and the direct supervision of Senior Project Assistant (Migration Health), the incumbent will assist in ensuring basic medical screening is carried out, particularly in the areas of reproductive, maternal and child health care. Critical medical cases will be referred for additional services through partners and private hospital partners. S/he is expected to carry out her/his duties in accordance with strictest ethical standards and with due respect for gender and socio-cultural sensitivities.

Role objectives

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

1.Ensure all cases in need of basic and emergency medical assistance are provided with adequate health services.

2.Provide basic medical screening, prescriptions for basic/essential medicines and makes referrals for chronic, emergency, or advanced care need cases.

3.Ensure that medical protocols and prescriptions are in line with diagnosis made and are followed appropriately by health personnel.

4.Ensure that universal infection control and precaution and hygiene standards are in place and maintained.

5.Maintain regular contact with Directorate of Public Health staff and other local health stakeholders.

6.Ensure proper documentation of patient information and daily entry into appropriate databases is maintained.

7.Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on the progress of field activities and challenges encountered, as well as summary information on patients screened, served, and referred.

8.Maintain a regular medical supply stock record and communicates the need for replenishment with the MHU pharmacy team.

9.Accompany and support the admission of emergency medical cases from received at the border or IOM transit center to the appropriate treatment center.

10.Maintain confidentiality of patient information and collaborative relationships with clients, partners, and health professionals.

11.Assist in project monitoring and identifying priority health needs and other activities including but not limited to regular disease outbreak monitoring and reporting, take part in health awareness campaign, etc.

12.Participate in coordination meetings, workshops, training events and conferences at Health Cluster/provincial level.

Further information

Education

University degree in Human Medicine from an accredited academic institution and passed exit exam with Valid licence to practice with one year experience.

Experience

·Minimum 1 year of clinical experience.

·A few years of experience in related medical field will be advantageous.

·Previous experience in development and humanitarian field is expected.

·Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Languages

Fluency in Dari and Pashto

Working knowledge of English
