Mission and objectives

As the United Nations lead agency on international development, UNDP works in 170 countries and territories to eradicate poverty and reduce inequality. We help countries to develop policies, leadership skills, partnering abilities, institutional capabilities, and to build resilience to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Our work is concentrated in three focus areas; sustainable development, democratic governance and peacebuilding, and climate and disaster resilience. UNDP’s mandate is to end poverty, build democratic governance, rule of law, and inclusive institutions. We advocate for change and connect countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life.

Context

Rapid urbanization in Dili has contributed to excessive waste generated each year. Minimum control in managing waste collected as well as lack of people participation to solve waste issues added more complexity to already hard-to-solve waste management issue in Dili. Based on our observation general waste bins are often poorly design and located in each villages in the capital city of Dili. Most bins also does not indicate the separation of waste based on type of waste (organic, plastic, recyclable). The video of graphic animation will contribute to our efforts in achieving SDG 11, 12, 13,14 15.

Task description

As part of our waste management solutions, Timor-Leste Accelerator Lab would like to provide a brief 3 minutes video of graphic animation on how to segregate waste at households. The video animation will become one of the tools for raising awareness campaign which we will share through social media and national television. This animation video will show the importance of segregating waste at household level and how dangerous the effect of waste to human health and to the environment if this issue is not solved from now on. We are looking for one online volunteer under the guidance of Accelerator Lab focal point and in close collaboration with the CO communications teams to support us in producing a graphic animation video for raising awareness campaign material. In particular, the Online Volunteer is asked to: - Create draft design based on requirements and discuss with focal point/ communications team. - Develop the design according to agreed requirements. - Develop draft animation video for comments and revision. - Produce final draft animation video for publication. The design/layout should follow our corporate design guidelines which will be shared with the Online Volunteers in advance.
