Context
The G20 Global Land Initiative uses social media platforms to elevate public engagement and is aiming to increase public engagement and build a community of over 300,000 followers by December 31, 2023. To support these endeavors, the G20 Global Land Initiative is seeking the assistance of up to eight Online Volunteers with a variety of social media skills to support the Initiative’s public outreach over the next six months. The volunteers will work with the communications team to create captivating content and stories for its social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn) to increase public awareness and interest in land restoration. The volunteers will work in the communications team, under the direct supervision of the Communications Coordinator. Volunteers will receive a United Nations Volunteers issued Certificate and testimonial of their work at the conclusion of the assignment.
Task description
We are seeking volunteers who can work remotely to support the Communications Team to create engaging social media content, including content and/or stories (2 volunteers), graphics (2 volunteers) and reels (2 volunteers) and research (2 volunteers). The content will emphasize restoration practices, such as sustainable land management, conservation, regenerative agriculture and tree-planting, among other practices. The selected volunteers will be responsible for one or more the following tasks: • Research, create, edit, for publication, every week, at least two relevant and captivating products, which are aligned with the objectives and ambition of the G20 Global Land Initiative • Attend the monthly Landwise (one-hour webinar) sessions to learn about land restoration and prepare social media content from these sessions (recordings will be available for those in challenging time zones) • Prepare engaging designs to produce visually appealing and engaging communication products, such are reels, videos, graphics, infographics, photos, images (for example, artistic drawings, cartoons, etc), videos, based on the content and stories provided by the content team • Adapt a wide range of communication materials for the G20’s social media channels (LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram), including developing reviewing and proofreading the stories. • Adhere to the initiative’s brand guidelines in all content produced • Ensure all content and images produced do not infringe on copyrights from other actors and pass the copyright thresholds and requirements of the United Nations • Prepare fortnightly reports of the social media activities carried out, such as the sources of the content, the products or outputs prepared (such as stories, reels, infographics, etc), and analytics related to their posts (eg impressions/reach of the post, engagement around it, etc) to guide follow-up action. • Submit created content in a timely fashion by adhering to the established project timelines. On average, 2 content (stories, designs, reels, videos, graphics, infographics, photos or images) will be expected from the Online Volunteers per week. Assessment of achievement will be based several indicators, that include, but are not limited to: ability to meet the targets agreed, on time, product quality, public responses to the products (such as views, sharing and engagement).
