Overview
Jhpiego is hiring Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) Site Team Leaders (2) to be based in Chikwawa and Nsanje Districts. The incumbents will be responsible for providing oversight and supervision to the site -based VMMC teams. This includes coordinating service delivery and outreach schedules and working with demand creation staff to ensure a constant flow of clients. He/ She will be the custodian of the data management system at the site. The VMMC Site Team Leaders will also serve as the primary site-based quality assurance focal persons. The successful candidates will be required to travel to outreach sites in the catchment area of the static site and mass circumcision activities (campaign sites) whenever and wherever the need arises. The VMMC Site Team Leaders will also lead the rapid response teams. The position reports to the Zone Manager.
Responsibilities
- Prepare clients and conduct safe male circumcision procedures at designated health facilities (static and outreach) as part of a comprehensive package of VMMC services in line with national and donor policies and guidelines.
- Participate in VMMC activities at static and outreach sites during routine services.
- Provide post-operative and follow-up care to clients and monitor progress appropriately.
- Oversee reporting of the site performance by actively coordinating the compiling the daily, weekly and monthly reports, and data quality assurance.
- Make sure that routine data is corrected at site level and reported on time and that there’s no data backlog.
- Report any adverse events to the Quality Assurance Advisor within 12 hours and attend to these clients.
- Develop quarterly service delivery work plans for the district
- Participate in regular planning meetings with the VMMC Zonal Manager , Health Promoter and Community Mobilisers to coordinate service delivery schedules with demand creation activities
- Provide financial input into activity budgets to ensure that district activities are implemented in a cost effective manner.
- Supervise and manage the clinical and non-clinical members of the rapid response service delivery team including setting annual performance objectives and conducting performance evaluations.
- During times of low client demand, provide support for demand creation activities in collaboration with the Health Promoters
- Perform any other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma in Clinical medicine with strong surgical skills OR State Registered Nurse with a Diploma or Degree in Nursing
- Valid registration with the Malawi Medical Council OR with the Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi
- At least 5 to 6 years of work experience in a hospital/clinic setting, with experience in VMMC service provision and/or management preferred.
- Good knowledge in HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care issues and understanding of the Malawi health services system.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision making, organisational and communication skills, with ability to prioritise multiple tasks and work efficiently in a demanding environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience, flexibility, diplomacy, cross-cultural communication, willingness to listen, and respect to colleagues.
- Possession of computer skills including MS Office, Power point and Excel.
- Fluent written and spoken English and Chichewa
- Willingness to engage in travel to support outreach and mass circumcision activities within Malawi.
- Training in and/or previous experience working in voluntary medical male circumcision programs is strongly desired.
