| Overview of position |
Grandmothersare one of the considerable resources that could be agents and catalysts of change toward the promotion of positive behaviors and practices in Afghanistan. In a recent qualitative study on SBC and Nutrition, grandmothers were identified as the most influential people when it comes to decisions related to child feeding and child health-seeking behavior. Our objective is to empower and engage grandmothers in the promotion of optimal key practices/behaviors of health, nutrition, and hygiene, related to child survival, development, and protection at the household level. Since April 2023, 1,089 grandmother groups have been established all over the country. SBC section is seeking for highly dedicated, experienced and passionate female social mobilizers to extend the grandmother groups network and strengthen their capacities, skills and community anchor to support community access to essentials services and promote positive behavior for children wellbeing. |

Scope of GMG social mobilizer Job: 2. Facilitate coordination and connection, community anchoring, linkages between the grandmother group network, service providers, and other community platforms. 3. Build the capacity of grandmother group members in various areas of community engagement, interpersonal communication for women and child health, Nutrition, and well being 4. Establish, expand, and maintain grandmother group networks at the provincial level.
1. Supervise, support
and monitor the activities of the grandmother group network in the province. Activities and Tasks to be performed by SM: ·In close coordination and support of CHWs preparation of a detailed monthly work plan for the grandmother group on the provincial level ·Leading, establishing and expanding the GMGs at the provincial level under the direct supervision of SBC zonal officers. ·Close coordination with health Shura, CHSs, CHWs, Nutrition Counsellors, School management Shuras, community influencers, Madrasa teachers, and FHAG to support grandmother group activities ·Build community consensus for change through grandmothers affirming and strengthening the role of GMs as supportive and advisory recourses at the community level ·Build the capacity of grandmother groups in the project target area on issues affecting women and children to empower GMGs in promoting positive practices for child survival, development, and protection. ·Enhancing interpersonal communication between GMG networks, and supportive supervision of community engagement sessions on a regular basis. ·Support distribution and utilization of printed SBC assets on specific topics to support the CE dialogue and sessions and conduct end-user monitoring. ·Support the distribution of supplies such as hygiene kits, soap, and other commodities to the grandmother groups in the target area ·Regularly attend monthly meetings of local health shura and share the issues and progress updates of the GMGs. ·Conduct and attend regular meetings to discuss GMGs related issues with SBC Technical Extenders and SBC IPs monthly and ad hoc basis ·Assist SBC team to monitor and visit female CE sessions, trainings where required ·Provide support to the TAAVON female members/wings trainings. ·Strengthen linkages between GMG and TAAVON female members at district and village level. ·Documentation and data collection of the implemented activities by grandmother group members. ·On a monthly basis, sharing at least one success story of the GMG activities. ·Submission of monthly progress reports with proper documentation and data of the implemented activities by grandmother groups. ·Update and record regularly the GMG online data base ·Any other business requested by zonal SBC officers |

| Further information |
1.University degree in public health, Social Science, education or any other related field 2.At least two years of working experience in the field of community mobilization, community development, and social work 3.Local resident, can travel to all districts of the province 4.Fluency in written and spoken local languages with an intermediate knowledge of English language 5.Being familiar with computer programs (MS office) 6.Knowledge about local environment and context. 7.Interpersonal skills: Strong communication, negotiation, and networking skills are necessary to engage with stakeholders. 8.Cultural sensitivity: Understanding and respect for local customs, traditions, and values are crucial to build trust and credibility. 9. Only Local Area Females will be shortlisted. |
