Position Title: Consultant (Senior Research Assistant)

Brief on the Organization:

The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is working towards building a healthier India. It is helping to address the limited institutional and systems capacity in India by strengthening education and training, advancing research and technology and facilitating policy and practice in the area of Public Health. PHFI is headquartered in New Delhi with national presence through its constituent units of regional Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) and Centers of Applied Research in core public health themes. The Foundation, established in 2006 as a public private initiative, is governed by an independent board comprising of senior government officials, eminent Indian and International academic and leaders, civil society representatives and corporate leaders. Project Brief:

Department of Health Promotion is one of the units within Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) primarily focusing on Original Research; Advocacy; and advancing support to the Indian Government at National and various State levels in strengthening capacity, policies and evidence for health promotion. The specialized target areas of unit are Tobacco Control; Alcohol Control; and Adolescent Health Promotion with emphasis on sound evidence-based strategies, well-planned approach to implementation and evaluation.

PHFI’s Health Promotion Division in collaboration and guidance from the World Health Organization-SEARO is conducting Rapid Assessment of the Peer Education Programme of 11 South East Asia Region Countries with an aim to map the existing national-level peer education programmes in each of SEAR countries. In each of the 11 SEAR countries, a situational analysis will be undertaken to map the existing National-level Peer Education programmes.

Deliverables:

• To handle Research office correspondence (e-mails, Meeting Minutes etc.)
• Conduct review of literature in the domain of public health and evidence synthesis
• To prepare the need based presentations and update data and slides
• To organize references of the scientific publications/reports using Reference Manager
• Contribute to report and manuscripts writing
• Support in writing Research Proposals
• Liaison with the study team
• Any other activities as required for Research Division and Research Administration
• Any other tasks assigned by Supervisor/PI.

Qualification:

Essential:

• Master’s in Public Health, Social Sciences or allied fields

Experience:

Essential:

• Almost 2 years of relevant experience in Public Health
• Experience of handling Research office correspondence

Desirable:

• Experience of designing qualitative evaluation in implementation science research
