STRUCTURE

This one-year Master’s programme is intensive by design. It combines two distance learning modules with a face-to-face component.

1 November 2019 to 19 January 2020:

DISTANCE LEARNING SUPPORTED BY A TUTORING SERVICE
Students learn and practice on their own time using an online platform. This preparatory phase introduces students to the basic concepts of social innovation and sustainable development.
Topics covered include:
• Social transformation and related challenges
• The role of technology for social purposes
• The UN’s 2030 Agenda and the ILO’s Future of Work Agenda

20 January 2020 to 15 April 2020:

ON-CAMPUS LEARNING AT THE ITCILO IN TURIN, ITALY

The residential training period is an opportunity for students to meet one another, deepen their knowledge of the relevant topics, and gather ideas for their final project work.
The face-to-face componet is divided into four parts:
• Part 1: Social innovation policies and tools, as they relate to the SDGs
• Part 2: Design thinking for social innovation and the social business model
• Part 3: Social Impact Finance and investment modalities for social impact
• Part 4: Social impact measurement using various approaches and tools

19 May 2020 to 31 October 2020:
HOME-BASED RESEARCH FOR THESIS/PROJECT WORK

Students complete an original project work related to a specific social challenge. The project should be testable at the country or community level. Tutors and professors will provide guidance.
