Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is increasing its capacity to support its operations with human resources when needed. As part of this process, its pool of Global Roving staff is being strengthened. The positions offer experienced humanitarians the opportunity to be deployed to any of NRC’s operations, filling critical staffing gaps or providing support when needs occur. The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water, sanitation and hygiene sectors.

The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs Read more about NRC here.


NRC is urgently seeking qualified candidates to its pool of Global Roving staff.

These positions offer experienced humanitarians the opportunity to be deployed to any of NRC’s operations, filling critical staffing gaps or providing support when needs occur.

Global Roving Country Director

The main purpose of the Global Roving Country Director is to:
1. Function as interim Country Director in an existing NRC country programme
2. Be a mentor/management support for a first time/unexperienced Country Director

The Global Roving Country Director will undertake short-term assignments, up to 6 months, to different NRC country operations. Assignments are based on requests from NRC’s Regional Offices-

Global Roving Area Manager

The purpose of the Area Manager position is to ensure high quality and cost-effective programme/project implementation within the designated geographical area.

Global Roving Finance Manager

The purpose of the Finance Manager position in a Country Office is to have responsibility for ensuring that the financial set-up is according to NRC’s standards and to support programme/project implementation.

Global Roving Shelter Specialist

The purpose of the Shelter Specialist position is the technical development of Shelter, strategic direction, and quality assurance, the Shelter strategy, and quality control. The Shelter Specialist is responsible for mentoring, training and capacity build staff on Shelter technical capacity.

The purpose of the WASH Specialist position is the echnical development of WASH, strategic direction and quality assurance, the WASH strategy and quality control. The WASH Specialist is responsible for mentoring, training and capacity build staff on WASH technical capacity.
