The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is responding to the Syria crisis, assisting refugees in Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq as well as people displaced inside Syria. NRC are now looking for several motivated talents in the legal area, and they present a new interesting initiative for the position as Security Advisor in Iraq.
"We work in shelter, emergency distributions, education, water and sanitation and legal assistance. Our response on the ground has grown rapidly with the dramatic rise in displacement and we now have around 1,200 staff members working on the regional response to the Syria crisis", says NRC.

Ideal candidate is:
A university graduate (Law/Social Studies or similar), with a minimum of 3 years' experience in a senior level legal assistance project implementation position in a humanitarian/ recovery context. Someone with a good knowledge of the displacement context in Iraq and the Middle East, experience with start-up and expansion programmes and experience working in a complex and volatile context. NRC is looking to recruit an experienced Housing, Land & Property (HLP) Sub-Cluster Coordinator to Country Office in Iraq. This position will be placed in Erbil with some travelling to Area Offices in Dohuk, Baghdad & Kirkuk. The Housing, Land & Property (HLP) Sub-Cluster Coordinator reports to the Head of Programmes.
Ideal Candidate is someone who has strong representation skills and technical experience with housing and property issues. This person should be a strategic thinker and have experience in working with developing strategic plans. In an effort to support an enhanced work/life balance, NRC is introducing a pilot scheme which aims to split our Security Advisor, South Central Iraq role into two equal functions. This initiative proposes to employ two Advisors working on rotating 6 week cycles between the duty station and their place of home leave.
Ideal Candidate is:
A University Graduate in a relevant discipline (Security, Risk & Crisis Mgmt or similar), a seasoned professional with a strong Military, Police or Security background and an individual with significant political and cultural awareness and experience working in settings where insecurity is a major issue. Additionally, we are looking for a professional with proven experience liaising with civilian and military government authorities as well as with regional, national and international institutions, who possess strong analytical skills, as well as demonstrated leadership and management skills
