Job vacancies at MHI - Maternal Health Initiative

We connect women with family planning options in the postpartum (post-birth) period – a uniquely impactful juncture. Contraceptive access in the year after birth prevents short-spaced pregnancies, a significant cause of maternal and neonatal mortality. Simply by ensuring that pregnancies occur more than two years apart, we can achieve an estimated 32% reduction in maternal mortality and 21% reduction in neonatal mortality.

Our work is currently focused on Ghana, with ongoing pilot work in the Northern region of the country. In collaboration with our local partners and the Ghana Health Service, we deliver a program of refresher trainings to nurses and midwives on effective family planning counselling.
