The Musk-led DOGE has locked down USAID, and 10,000 colleagues have lost their jobs. In a series of articles, I will provide insights to (targeting former) USAID co-workers on how they can make themselves attractive for a transition to a UN career.

I will introduce you to how the quota works, what organizations and contract types you should avoid applying for as an American, and what job functions are currently in demand.

In this fourth article, I will go through a sector specific transition theory, helping you to target the right employers based on your expertise area. I will also make another dive into quotas, just to provide an understanding of where to spend time researching before you apply.

If you want to know in what organizations US nationals are underrepresented, I recommend you to read this article, where I have listed +25 organizations seeking for Americans.
