Mission and objectives

Context

The project Harnessing the potential of vulnerable groups for stabilization and recovery of eastern and southern regions of Ukraine has been designed to provide comprehensive support across three interlinked strategic directions: the re-establishment/enhancement of security service provision, including in areas that were significantly affected by the war and temporarily not under the control of the Government of Ukraine; the creation of inclusive and participatory mechanisms for community-led reintegration of veterans and their family members, enhancing service provision to the veteran community while at the same time unlocking their social and human capital to the benefit of community recovery; and supporting the meaningful engagement of women, and especially young women, in planning, implementation, and monitoring of recovery processes, in supporting the social fabric and resilience of their communities, thus unlocking the gender transformative potential of the recovery and social cohesion processes. The project is generously funded by the Government of Germany through the Stabilization Unit within the German Federal Foreign Office and by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France. The Veteran Support Associate will be responsible for assisting and supporting in the management and oversight of the activities that will support veteran reintegration in project selected communities, with a focus on efficient delivery of the results ensuring high quality and accuracy of work. The incumbent will promote UNDP’s mandate as a gender-responsive organization with zero tolerance for any kind of discriminatory and abusive behaviour, including sexual harassment, sexual exploitation and abuse.

Task description

Under the overall supervision of Community Security and Social Cohesion Specialist, operational daily supervision of Project Coordinator and direct supervision of Civil Society Engagement and Capacity Development Specialist, UNV will be responsible for assisting and supporting of the management and oversight of the veteran reintegration process, its operations and efficient delivery of the results. • Perform administrative support functions to facilitate the implementation of the activities related to veteran reintegration process. • Assure smooth operational running of the veteran reintegration related activities by following established operational rules and procedures, including preparation of the supporting documentation for micro purchasing for procurement, market research, transfer of title, others. • Preparation of events related to the processes of reintegration of veterans both at the local and national level. • Participate in data collection, analysis and maintenance of veteran NGOs related database and files. • Keep accurate electronic and paper filing, information and records systems. • Provide support to Community Security and Recovery Working Groups on the topic of reintegration of veterans at the community level. • Support close and effective cooperation with community mobilization team, rule of law, social cohesion and community security team, of implementation of the planned veteran reintegration related activities. • Support the process of preparation and implementation of veteran mini-initiatives in project selected communities. • Ensure close and regular coordination with partner agencies regarding planned and implementing activities related to the veteran reintegration. • In partnership with the grant team, monitor the process of grant implementation by veteran NGOs. • Prepare information about implemented activities for the communication team. • Prepare veteran reintegration related correspondence, maintain contacts with governmental and non-governmental institutions, local authorities, NGOs, etc. • Maintain the filing system. • Support cooperation with partners at both the local and national levels, other UN agencies in Ukraine and other donor organizations working on the topic of reintegration of veterans. • In partnership with colleagues, prepare reports for donors and other statutory bodies about implemented projects. • Facilitate veteran reintegration training/learning activities. • Participate in project activities (meetings, round tables, conferences, other public activities). preparation, implementation and follow up, take meeting minutes etc. • Provide support to communication activities and events organized under the project and within the Community Security and Social Cohesion team. • Perform other duties as assigned by the Civil Society Engagement and Capacity Development Specialist and Community Security and Social Cohesion Specialist and/or other relevant UNDP line managers.
