About the Position

The Project Manager (Aquaculture) will provide overall coordination of the aquaculture and serves as the primary point of contact to the overall Team Leader of the Activity and WorldFish management. The incumbent will provide leadership in applying an Inclusive Market Systems approach to implementation of the Bangladesh Aquaculture. Oversees the completion of all technical aquaculture requirements, including Component 1 results and deliverables, in accordance with Activity work plans.

The incumber will manages Component 1 operational, financial, and administrative priorities; directs the planning and budgeting processes; applies management systems in line with RCI and WorldFish standard operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overall leadership, management and technical direction of Component 1 to achieve excellence in implementation quality and results.
  • Overseeing implementation of Component 1 and provides high quality technical and strategic leadership, managerial oversight, and administration.
  • Serving as the primary liaison from WorldFish to the Team Leader and is accountable for achievement of results of Component 1, ensuring quality of work is maintained at the highest standard, and all objectives and deliverables are met.
  • Compliance with all USAID and WorldFish protocols and procedures.
  • Building capacity of Component staff to meet demand for technical, market systems and managerial skills.
  • Supporting the Team Leader in the development of project documentation, report writing and learning association with implementation of the overall project.
  • Collaboration and partnership with DOF and other relevant aquaculture activities in Bangladesh.

The Person

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent in Aquaculture/Fisheries or related fields.
  • At least 10 years’ experience, knowledge and skills in the aquaculture sector and enterprise development, preferably for USAID funded interventions.
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills with 5 years’ experience in direct project management of large and complex donor-funded projects.
  • Competence in planning, implementation, monitoring and report writing.
  • Demonstrated past experience in integrating gender, youth, environment, and nutrition sensitive approaches into development interventions.
  • Strong team building and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Ability/willingness to travel to remote locations for field work.
  • Proficient in MS office, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook to support effective communication.

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Experience in South or Southeast Asia.
  • Knowledge and experience of tropical aquaculture systems.
  • A positive and can-do attitude.
  • Committed and motivated.
  • Able to converse in Bangla language (preferable).

Eligibility and Location

The recruitment for this role is a pre-award process. Therefore, any offers of employment for this role are fully dependent on the outcome of our project proposal to the donor. Offers of employment for this role will only be made if our project proposal to the donor is accepted and agreed.

The successful candidate should be available to serve for 3-year fixed-term contract with the possibility of contract renewal depending on performance and funding availability.
