We are looking for an engaged Manager Regulatory Framework who brings solid expertise and a passion for FSC’s mission, to work with us in a multinational environment.

 

The Scope

Context:

A newly established FSC Regulatory Framework Program within the Performance and Standards Unit (PSU) ensures alignment of the FSC normative framework with global legislation and applicable regulatory requirements, such as the European Union Deforestation Regulation.

About the role:

The Manager will manage projects and processes to assess and analyze the regulatory initiatives globally as well as coordinates alignment activities in normative framework development within Performance and Standards Unit teams.  The position offers the opportunity to support the further development of a new area of work for FSC of high importance for its offering and credibility.

 

Main Roles and Responsibilities

  • To develop and manage the processes for monitoring and analyzing initiatives regulating sustainable forest management and supply chains globally as well as other areas relevant to FSC normative framework.
  • To manage projects to align and develop solutions for FSC normative requirements originating from regulatory initiatives, such as the EU alignment project.
  • To act as contact point and PSU representative for regulatory alignment projects on technology development needs and opportunities. 
  • To perform communication and outreach related activities, such as supporting events, webinars, meetings, and other engagement efforts with both external and internal audiences.
  • To manage coordination of user support for normative solutions for regulatory alignment from PSU in collaboration with other FSC teams. 
  • To collaborate closely with all relevant units within FSC International, to ensure internal collaboration and alignment in analyzing and developing solutions related to regulatory developments.
  • To manage applicable administrative tasks, e.g., developing contracts and agreements with service providers.
  • To participate in FSC internal competence and accreditation programs.
  • Any other task as assigned by formal supervisor and project work as assigned according to special organizational needs.

 

Qualification, Experience and Skills

  • Education and Training:
    • Msc University degree or equivalent training or experience in a relevant field, for example, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Business Administration, Law or similar.
  • Working Experience, Style and Skills:
    • At least 5 years of professional experience in one or more of the following: project management, certification, quality management systems, legal compliance.
    • Experience with and up-to-date understanding of at least EUDR is required, other regulatory initiatives are considered a plus and familiarization with them will be required over a defined period of time upon joining.
    • Project management experience: proven successful track record of managing cross-functional collaborative projects. Experience in working in a multi-cultural, multi-lingual, global team.
    • Proven ability to structure complex material and present it in a clear and simple manner.
    • Outspoken time management skills: ability to perform well while handling simultaneously a number of functions.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective communication with peers and external stakeholders.
    • Service and solution-oriented attitude to work and professional relationships.
    • A very strong sense for diligence and accuracy.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
    • Ability to facilitate interactive discussions.
  • Computer Skills:
    • Excellent skills in the use of/experience with Standard software packages (MS Office 365).
  • Language and Communication Skills:
    • Fluency in English, spoken and written.
    • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
    • Fluency in French is a plus.
    • Exemplary verbal and written conduct and communication skills.
    • Strong presentation skills.
    • Strong, assertive, at the same time friendly and professional attitude.
  • Others:
    • Commitment to FSC’s mission and values.
    • Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity to the diversity of values, views and approaches to issues relevant to the FSC program by stakeholders around the world.
    • Familiarity at the general level with the scope of FSC’s certification program.
    • Ability to represent FSC through her / his work with exemplary personal and professional authority and conduct.

 

Terms and Conditions

  • Location: Bonn, Germany.
  • Working Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week.
  • Duration of Employment: Temporary contract - 2 years (extension possible, subject to satisfactory performance).
  • Starting Date: As soon as possible.
  • Travel: Sporadic travel is required.
