Context

As part of BERA, the Brussels Representation Office manages the partnership with the European Union with a view to build up political, operational and financial strategic partnerships, and with Belgium, one of the major partners and contributors to UNDP’s core resources.

Task description

• Support senior management, regional and thematic colleagues in the organization of meetings, workshops, events, missions and retreats organized by the Office. • Support senior management, regional and thematic colleagues in the development and coordination of key donor engagement strategies, setting priorities, goals, and KPIs for existing and new partnerships. • Oversee the collection, analysis and systematization of the data pertaining to the EC/EU­UN/UNDP partnership; Perform intelligence gathering, analyses donor trends and funding landscape and provide input into the Office’s policy recommendations and corporate strategies tailored to specific donors. • Monitor relevant information related to financing for sustainable development, the implementation of the Strategic Plan and the broader aid effectiveness debate that may have impacts on UNDP’s work and mandates, including analysis of development and sectoral policies currently being discussed at the EU and Belgian fora. • Prepare briefing notes, speeches and other required documents to support the outreach activities of senior management, regional and thematic colleagues. • Provide advisory services and contractual inputs during negotiation processes of Country Offices, Regional Centers and Bureaus when engaging with the European Commission/EU Delegations through review of project proposals, thus ensuring compliance with established contractual frameworks. • Contribute to outreach initiatives and advocacy matters to bolster UNDP’s positioning. • Perform other duties as may be assigned. Required skills: • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English including the ability to identify and express clearly key messages, adapting style to the intended audience. • High level of computer literacy, in particular in Excel and computerized accounting systems. • Experience with EU funding instruments and contractual aspects, financial management and reporting is an advantage. • Ability to review a variety of data, identify and adjust data discrepancies. • Ability to meet tight deadlines whilst working effectively in a fast-paced environment. • Attention to detail and analytical skill.
