Job Description

Job Overview/Summary:
The Guard will be responsible for the security and safety of the IRC office premises in Benghazi.
Major Responsibilities:
Manage access control at the compound, including all entries and exits, ensuring area is clear and the persons entering are recognized, opening and closing and locking doors/gates as appropriate.
Record names and ID of all visitors, including time of entry and exit, including staff, other workers, visitors from other organizations or local authorities, etc.
Patrol outside and inside perimeter during night time.
Report all incidents and near misses / close calls to the Security Focal Point.
Regular surveillance of CCTV cameras (if in use)
Monitor the generator and fuel tanks (if in use) and liaise with the Supply Chain Officer as needed.
Manage, regularly test, and react to all alarm systems and fire sensors.
Respond in case of fire: notify fire department, notify and evacuate staff, perform basic firefighting.
Respond in case of first aid situation.
Check coffee machines, printers, stove, lights, etc., are all turned off when staff has left the office.
Ensure all office doors are locked outside office hours.
Pick up garbage, ensure area is clean, and sweep outdoor area at least once a day.
Guard may not leave the compound for any reason until colleague arrives for the next shift.
Participate in IRC security and other trainings as required.
Water plants & basic gardening (weekend shifts or when needed).
Other tasks as requested by the supervisor.
Other responsibilities include:
Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to the IRC Libya and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.
Proactively engage with supervisor on all security-related matters.

Qualifications

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
Job Requirements:
Minimum 2-4 years of relevant work experience.
From the local area, with an excellent understanding of local security dynamics.
Competent in spoken and written Arabic, basic spoken English.
Good hygiene and excellent personal presentation.
Excellent sense of security awareness.
Calm and patient under pressure.
Physically fit.
Personal Characteristics:
Strong sense of personal integrity.
Attention to detail.
Team spirit and problem-solving abilities.
Positive attitude.
Training
Within the first 6-18 months, attend and successfully finish the following training, if provided by IRC:
Security Guard Training
Basic First Aid Training
Elementary Firefighting Training
Facility Security Assessment Training
English lessons
