A challenging and exciting opportunity has arisen within UNICEF Mozambique for a passionate and committed Health Manager, P4 level based in Maputo (open to non-Mozambican nationals only). The Health Manager (P4) reports to the Chief of Health & Nutrition (P5) for general guidance and supervision. S/He is responsible for supporting the Chief in managing the health programme and leading the management, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of the health programme (health systems, immunization, maternal, neonatal, child survival/development, HIV/AIDs, emergencies, cross sectoral work with Nutrition, WASH, Education, Social Policy and Child Protection) within the country programme. S/He provides technical guidance and operational support throughout the programming process to facilitate the achievement of concrete and sustainable results, according to plans, allocation, results based-management approaches and methodology (RBM), organizational Strategic Plans and goals, standards of performance, and accountability framework.

The Country Programme of Cooperation between the Government of Mozambique and UNICEF (CPD) for 2022-2026 aims to support Mozambique to accelerate efforts towards achieving the targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and meeting its commitment to respect, protect and fulfil the rights of children, in line with the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and the Core Commitments for Children in Humanitarian Action. It derives from the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF), 2022–2026 and aligns with the Government Five-Year Plan 2020–2024, the National Development Strategy 2015–2035 and relevant sector policies and programmes.

S/He provides technical guidance and operational support throughout the programming process to facilitate the achievement of concrete and sustainable results, according to plans, allocation, results based-management approaches and methodology (RBM), organizational Strategic Plans and goals, standards of performance, and accountability framework.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • An advanced university degree (master’s or higher) in one of the following fields is required: public health/nutrition, pediatric health, family health, health research, global/international health, health policy and/or management, socio-medical, health education, epidemiology or another relevant technical field.
  • A minimum of eight years of professional experience in two or more of the following areas is required: public health/nutrition planning and management, maternal, neonatal, and child health care, health systems’ strengthening and/or HIV/AIDs.
  • Proven experience in health emergency/humanitarian preparedness required.
  • Experience in key performance indicator and financial management.
  • Proven team management experience required.
  • Experience working in a developing country is considered as an asset.
  • Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Portuguese or a Latin language is required.
