Mission and objectives

The UN Food Systems Coordination Hub (“the Hub”) will act as the catalyst inside the UN system in relation to food systems and the 2030 Agenda. Following the 2021 UN Food Systems Summit (FSS), the Hub will take on essential coordination functions to bring together food systems knowledge and expertise from diverse constituencies to support national progress on the SDGs in response to country priorities. The Hub’s role is to support countries to further develop and/or implement their national food systems transformation pathways, relevant dialogues and other processes, through the coordination of technical and policy support as requested by countries. The Hub will focus on leveraging the broad range of assets of the UN system – particularly within the context of the repositioning of the UN development system – and existing SDG reporting structures to demonstrate progress. The Hub will act as a coordinator and connector among diverse constituencies to support national progress on the SDGs and will be responsive to country priorities. The following AFPs have committed to provide human or/and financial resources to support initial operations of the Hub: • Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) • International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) • United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) • United Nations Secretariat (DCO) • World Food Programme (WFP) • World Health Organization (WHO)

Context

The UN Food Systems Summit +2 Stocktaking Moment took place in Rome, Italy from 24 – 26 July 2023, on the premises of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). It was hosted by Italy, in collaboration with the Rome-based UN Agencies (FAO, IFAD, WFP), the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub and the wider UN system. The event was comprised of 33 sessions, each of which produced a brief summary report. These reports have been translated into each of the official UN languages and volunteer support is required to proofread these translations.

Task description

Following the UN Food Systems Summit +2 Stocktaking Moment, the organizers of each Summit session submitted a brief summary report. The UN Food Systems Coordination Hub requires support in proofreading the translations of these summary reports. Workload will be divided by 3 online volunteers with an estimated 22,000 words per person, to be completed within two weeks of receiving the text. The task is to proofread the Russian translations and ensure they are translated correctly, free of any grammatical errors, following the same formatting as the English text, and maintaining the correct UN-style tone. A glossary of specific terms used by the Hub will also be provided, please ensure the translations use these terms correctly.
