In India, Jhpiego works across various states in close collaboration with national and state
governments, providing technical assistance in the areas of family planning, maternal and child health,
strengthening human resources for health, and non-communicable diseases. These programs are
funded by USAID, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, David & Lucile Packard Foundation, Children’s
Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), MSD for Mothers, and other anonymous donors.
Jhpiego is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team in the position
Regional Program Officer. This critical position sits at the intersection of health and community
development, with a focus on improving the quality of Antenatal care. The successful candidate will play
a pivotal role in developing strong relationships with Government stakeholders and implementing
community strategies to enhance the delivery of Antenatal care services. If you are passionate about

Responsibilities

1. Collaborate and liaison with government agencies, healthcare providers to implement
strategies that enhance the quality of Antenatal care services.
2. Provide timely feedback to Govt. stakeholders on various project activities.
3. Build and strengthen relationships with various stakeholders to move program forward.
4. Work with State Program Officers to ensure timely and efficient implementation of strategies as
per the program work plan in Born Healthy Project.
5. Provide support and guidance to the Program Officers in ensuring quality implementation of all
activities planned.
6. Identify and engage community leaders, influencers, and organizations to support the
development and implementation of community-based initiatives for Antenatal care
improvement.
7. Conduct needs assessments and community consultations to understand the specific
challenges and barriers related to Antenatal care in different communities.
8. Work with the facility and district level teams to ensure SBCC strategy is implemented as per
plan Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community engagement strategies and
initiatives, making necessary adjustments to ensure positive outcomes and impact.
9. Stay informed about relevant policies, guidelines, and best practices related to Antenatal care
and community engagement, and provide recommendations for improvement.
10. Prepare and present reports, presentations, and recommendations to internal and external
stakeholders, including government officials, donors, and partner organizations.
11. Provide strategic guidance for all programs being implemented, whenever called for.
12. Travel to the program intervention facilities in support of activity implementation and
monitoring as needed.
13. Assist in the development of training materials, performance standards and job aids to support
the strengthening of maternity homes and peripheral hospitals.
14. Support the Communications team in drafting success stories and facts in consultation with the
program team members. Support documentation of project results, successes, challenges and
lessons learned.
15. Perform or assume other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Required Qualifications

 Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Community Development, Sociology or a related
field.
7-10 years of experience of working with government counterparts.
 Minimum of 5 years of experience in community engagement, healthcare project
management, or a similar role.
 Technical knowledge and field experience in public health programs especially in Rajasthan.
 Familiarity with the Indian health system, newer initiatives in the health sector, and relevant
government policies.
Experience in implementing and managing large-scale programs.
Experience in managing a team of diverse professionals.
