Mission and objectives

The United Nations Information Centres (UNICs), Services (UNIS) and Offices (UNOs), located in 63 countries worldwide, link the United Nations with people around the world, disseminating global UN messages to local audiences. The Centres serve as a reliable source of up-to-date information about the UN, delivering information in their respective countries to a wide range of people, including journalists, government officials, civil society representatives, students, educators and researchers.

Context

To strengthen the recognition of the United Nations in Poland, UNIC Warsaw seeks an online volunteer to actively contribute to preparations of the international conference under the working title “Clean energy and the future of Poland”. The conference will take place on October 24, 2024. The assignment is expected to start on 22 April 2024.

Task description

We are looking for a diligent and dedicated online volunteer to provide expertise in international conference preparations, in particular in the area of clean energy. This is a unique opportunity for an individual passionate about clean energy, media, and international relations to contribute to the UNIC Warsaw's mission while gaining valuable experience and insights into the United Nations system. Key responsibilities: 1. Participate in preparation and development of the conference agenda and supporting activities, cooperation with content partners and speakers. 2. Create a framework for cooperation with Polish media. 3. Develop action plan for communication in media (press, radio, tv) as well as on social media (including Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube). 4. Prepare a list of journalists and meetings with them for interviews and press briefings. 5. Arrange media interviews before the conference with the main speakers. 6. Prepare and engage clean energy and connected subjects Polish influencers to cooperate. Expected results: The anticipated outcome is a meticulously crafted Excel database containing the list of journalists, influencers and media outlets in Poland. This database will serve as a strategic tool for UNIC Warsaw’s outreach to the target audience. Communication: Regular communication is essential for successful collaboration. Volunteer will engage in discussions via Teams, Zoom, or any other preferred platform to address task-related matters and ensure a cohesive workflow.
