Overview

Jhpiego is seeking services of qualified Lady Health Visitors (LHVs) for the “The Implementation of BEmONC Services” to be implemented in three facilities Islamabad District. This support includes expanding the pilot initiative on integrating Family Planning (FP) services and implementing the EmONC (Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care) improvement plan in selected primary-level healthcare facilities in Islamabad Capital Territory.

Responsibilities

The Lady Health Visitor will be responsible for MCH-related activities in the RHC in close Coordination with Medical Officer/Facility In charge 

  • Provide BEmONC services and outpatient services in selected Primary Health Care centers in ICT
  • Provide the delivery of quality Maternal and Child Health Service as per recommended standards and protocols  
  • Maintain high quality infection prevention mechanism
  • Close coordination with vaccinators for referral and support in providing MNCH and FP Services
  • Keep record of service delivery data and referrals and report on monthly basis
  • Maintain partographs of delivering women as per protocols
  • Participate in training and meetings as organized by Jhpiego/Dept
  • Conduct Health education and counselling to woman, either individually or in groups at facility level with focus to family planning, danger sign during pregnancy, ANC/PNC, breastfeeding, balance diet etc
  • Keep close liaison with LHWs and Community Health Workers for referrals.
  • Follow proper handing/taking over during shifts
  • Assist/facilitate in donor visits
  • Maintain good coordination and work relationship with other service providers, facility staff and manager
  • Any other tasks assigned by supervisor

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma in LHV /Nurse certificate and bachelor’s degree is prefable.
  • 4 -5 years of experience as LHV/Nurse in Public Sector (Primary or Secondary facility) and able to conduct Normal Deliveries
  • Having good communication and Interpersonal skills
  • Strong knowledge and Skills on Maternal & Child Health related components (MCH) of pregnancy and child birth, Family planning, provision of ANC/PNC services and neonatal resuscitation
  • Competency based training and certification on BEmOC and other MNCH services will be a plus
  • Local resident will be preferred
  • Staff will be hired on evening and night shift based in health facilities.
