SOS CHILDREN’S VILLAGES GHANA is a child welfare organization that provides a stable Family-Like Care (FLC) for children in need. We also provide social services for families at risk through our Family Strengthening Projects. Currently, we operate in four locations; Tema, Asiakwa, Kumasi, Tamale with the National Office in Accra. Applications are invited from suitably qualified and dynamic persons for appointment as:

 

SCIENCE AND CLASS TEACHERS

 

Duty Post : Tamale

 

Purpose
To teach and guide the pupils/students in a way that they will acquire the necessary foundation in Science.


Position Demands

First Degree in Education (Science or Basic Education).
3 years teaching experience as a teacher
Patience, Fair and firm, Respectful, Tactful and Loving


Principal Responsibilities

1. Plans the term’s scheme of work, prepares weekly lesson notes and all necessary teaching
and learning materials.

2. Teaches effectively, gives class assignments and conducts tests and examinations.

3. Show resourcefulness and creativity in assembling and using instructional materials

4. Makes effective use of continuous assessment records for remedial purposes and for pupils improvement

5. Organise learner- centred activities involving practical work, projects, demonstrations, visits and investigations

6. Attends courses organized by the school to improve upon teaching methods.

7. Supports other specialist teachers in giving necessary training during extra curricular activities (games, clubs meetings, school worships, mass singing etc).

8. Provides pupils/students with a positive role model and maintains discipline.

9. Monitors the individual development of pupils/students.

10. Investigates any sign of emotional or physical stress/abuse of pupils/students.

11. Identifies quickly children who have learning disabilities or behavioural problems so that a support programme for each child/students can be developed.

12. Takes active interest in SOS Children and participates fully in all SOS activities and programmes.

13. Abides by the rules and regulations stipulated in the Conditions of Service.

14. Performs any other duties assigned by your supervisor.
