We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated candidate for the position of Project Manager to be based in Zambia. This is a nationally recruited position and is open to all Zambians with excellent academic records and relevant experiences. The LRS Project Manager will serve as the lead for the EU-SIFAZ project, stationed in Zambia. This role entails comprehensive management of project budgets, contracts, communications, performance monitoring, and coordination with CIMMYT.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review monthly expenditures.
  • Assess Zambia office liquidation reports and funds requests monthly.
  • Allocate budget codes for expenditures as necessary.
  • Provide support for asset procurements and inventory management.
  • Supervise subgrants in compliance with donor requirements.
  • Ensure timely submission of technical and financial reports from partners/subgrantees.
  • Facilitate payment disbursements as required.
  • Develop or oversee content for various communication platforms.
  • Customize written materials for diverse audiences including donors, government partners, and farmers.
  • Review and edit written materials produced by the project team.
  • Achieve project deliverables outlined in Annual Workplans.
  • Maintain the annual results tracker/results framework for donors.
  • Assist staff with indicator reporting if mandated by donors.
  • Compile, edit, and submit annual and semi-annual reports for donors.
  • Assist in developing annual project implementation plans.
  • Manage project HR activities including recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluations following CIMMYT/IITA procedures.
  • Organize leadership committee meetings, technical meetings, and planning sessions as necessary.
  • Serve as a liaison for all implementing partners.
  • Supervise project staff as required.
  • Master’s degree in business administration, Finance, Public Administration, or equivalent; alternatively, a BBA in Project Management or related field.
  • Experience in managing projects funded by FAO, EU, USAID, or GIZ is advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in both corporate and non-profit environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in project and budget management for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, with proficiency in presentation and negotiation.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite and advanced internet skills.
  • High cultural sensitivity and ability to understand the needs of staff and partners.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, discretion, and capability to work under pressure.
  • Effective team leadership skills.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or PRINCE2 certification desired.
