Senior Programme Assistant - Communication, Conservation Education and Public Awareness

BACKGROUND
IUCN, represented by its Bangladesh Country Office, is implementing several projects under the biodiversity and species clusters, including the gharial conservation project funded by SUFAL, elephant project funded by UNHCR, urban NbS project funded by GCA and marine portfolio. The main work is aimed to develop and disseminate IEC materials, stakeholder assessment, engagement and communication, design and implementation of public consultations and mass communications, documentation of all kinds, production of reports and liase with stakeholders, press and media and organize briefing from time to time.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the overall guidance from the Country Representative of IUCN Bangladesh, and under the direct supervision of the and the Programme Manager, Species and Habitats of IUCN Bangladesh, the Communication, Conservation Education and Public Awareness expert (Senior Programme Assistant) will work with the project team and all stakeholders in the conservation communication, education, and raising public awareness, as well as support the project manager in successfully conducting the project activities and assist in completing other managerial duties, making sure that the project deliverables are submitted timely and correctly.

Specific Duties

1. Assist the project manager in successfully implementing project activities related to communication and awareness, in accordance with the project agreements between the donors;
2. Maintain communication with donors, key project stakeholders (MoEFCC, Bangladesh Forest Department, and relevant committees and bodies), as well as volunteers and consultants;
3. Formulate comprehensive mass awareness and educational plan for as per the needs of the projects as IUCN communication guidelines;
4. Organize mass awareness and educational programmes under the assigned projects;
5. Assist project team to design relevant and effective awareness and communication materials;
6. Develop and disseminate press releases, and IEC materials relevant to the assignments;
7. Assist in conducting stakeholder assessment, engagement and communication, as well as design and implementation of public consultations and mass communication, documentation of project activities;
8. Liaise with stakeholders, press and media, and organize briefings for the assignments;
9. Formulate web stories, and articles and assist in the publication of books, reports and papers under the assignments;
10. Assist project manager in writing project reports and all other committed deliverables are produced, submitted and accepted by the donor in a timely manner as per the agreements;
11. Undertake any other tasks that may be assigned by the Country Representative, the Programme Manager of IUCN Bangladesh and project manager, from time to time.
