Mission and objectives

Youth Co:Lab positions young people front and center in order to solve the region’s most pressing challenges. Co-created in 2017 by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Citi Foundation, Youth Co:Lab aims to establish a common agenda for countries in the Asia-Pacific region to empower and invest in youth so that they can accelerate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through leadership, social innovation and entrepreneurship.

Context

The Skill Our Future initiative, jointly led by UNDP and other partners, aims to create digital pathways for youth to not only support their employability but also enable them to thrive as globally engaged citizens, contributing to the sustainable development of their communities and beyond. With a marked focus on providing opportunities for youth from underserved communities, the program equips young people with the necessary 21st-century and digital skills they need to prepare for the future of work. Access the platform here: https://www.skillourfuture.org/learn. To promote the launch of this digital learning platform, Skill Our Future will run a social media campaign called #SkillUpRiseUp to raise awareness and visibility on the importance of 21st-century skills (digital skills, soft skills, employability, and SDGs awareness) across Asia-Pacific, encourage youth communities to develop their skills and address the SDGs, and celebrate youth who have been upskilling themselves for a better future. To that end, Skill Our Future intends to collaborate with Online Volunteers with expertise in digital campaigns to support the Youth Team in raising awareness of the importance of digital skills, soft skills & employability for young people; celebrate how young people are upskilling themselves & taking the lead to address the SDGs; and increase the visibility of Skill Our Future channels and boost registrations on Skill Our Future learning platform through various social media platforms, i.e: Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, X, TikTok, etc.

Task description

We are seeking support from Online Volunteers to support the UNDP Youth Team in raising awareness of the importance of digital skills, soft skills & employability for young people; celebrate how young people are upskilling themselves & taking the lead to address the SDGs; and increase the visibility of Skill Our Future channels and boost registrations on Skill Our Future learning platform through various social media platforms, i.e: Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, etc. For this purpose, the selected Online Volunteers, under the supervision and guidance of the UNDP Youth Team, will: 1. Help disseminate the Skill Our Future social media content, courses, and platform to youth and students across Asia-Pacific; 2. Create their own social media content on youth empowerment, skills development, and SDGs based on Skill Our Future social media templates. This requires collecting information and relevant material on the target audience, design style, and branding guidelines, creating initial drafts for review, and incorporating feedback from the UNDP team. The design/layout should follow our design guidelines, which will be shared with the Online Volunteers in advance. 3. Post daily 1-2 social media cards on preferred social media platforms, for 2 weeks. 4. Raise awareness and collect feedback/views on the #SkillUpRiseUp campaign across social media. 5. Submit analytics and reach of each post in the campaign monitoring database regularly. Selected Online Volunteers will have to attend the online induction arranged by the UNDP Youth Team Focal Point and will be provided with information and material relevant and necessary to perform the task. SPECIAL NOTICE: This is an unpaid assignment. However, a certificate will be provided at the end of your assignment. The task will be fully virtual. The Regional Youth Team of UNDP will provide optional exclusive learning sessions for selected Online Volunteers on SDGs awareness, employability, storytelling, wellbeing, etc. You will also have access to Skill Our Future Digital Learning Platform and be part of a supportive community of young changemakers amplifying the #SkillUpRiseUp Campaign.
