We Effect is now recruiting a financial controller. This position is part of the Global Finance & compliance team. The employment is a permanent position with a six months’ probation period. Start date as soon as possible.

In our international development cooperation programmes, we are applying a human rights-based approach supporting people living in poverty to secure their rights.

We Effect works in around 19 countries in Asia, Europe, Latin America and Africa through our offices in partnership with local CSO’s, farmer organisations, cooperative federations and other democratic organisations.

Main responsibilities 

Grant financial management process: Support and quality assurance to country offices in grant applications and budgets. Support and quality assurance of financial reporting to donors, grant utilisation follow up, audit follow up of grants.

Annual audit process: Quality assurance of letters of engagement, support and quality assurance of audits for the reporting of country offices. Review of procurement documentation and decision when a new auditor is selected. Follow up of audit findings at country offices.

Compliance monitoring country offices and internal compliance spot-checks: Responsible for compliance monitoring of country offices and compliance spot-checks according to yearly decided plan. Follow up on findings from monitoring. 

Anti-corruption and incident management: Support to country offices in handling of incidents. Participate in incident follow ups. Conduct anti-corruption trainings in country offices and for partner organisations.

Risk management: Follow up of risk management at country offices.

Organisational forecast and budget: Support and quality assurance of country office forecast and budgets.

Procurement: support and quality assurance of Terms of reference (upon request), quality assurance of contracts.

 

Required qualifications

Education: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent diploma. 
Experience: 4-6 years of relevant experience.
Essential skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Strong organisational skill with the capability to oversee and manage various tasks, projects, and activities simultaneously.
  • Strong time-management ability and to keep track of deadlines both internally and externally.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to ethical financial practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members across different locations. 
  • Experience working in non-profit organisation and/or international environments. 
  • Proficiency in financial/administrative software (cloud-based) and Microsoft 365.
  • Ability to work with large data sets and maintain accuracy under tight deadlines.
  • Implement process improvements and automation.
  • Effective communication in English.

 

Merits

  • Knowledge and experience of working in Xledger.
  • Oral and written communication skills in Spanish or other languages where we have country offices.
