  • Closing Date:

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is a multilateral development bank whose mission is financing Infrastructure for Tomorrow in Asia and beyond—infrastructure with sustainability at its core. We began operations in Beijing in 2016 and have since grown to 111 approved members worldwide. We are capitalized at USD100 billion and AAA-rated by the major international credit rating agencies. Collaborating with partners, AIIB meets clients’ needs by unlocking new capital and investing in infrastructure that is green, technology-enabled, and promotes regional connectivity.

AIIB’s Office of the Treasurer (TRE) is continuously growing its business and exploring ways to optimize internal processes given the transactional nature of treasury operations. There are activities within the team that can be further streamlined through digital automations and application of artificial intelligence. To support the bank in its expansion, the intern will focus on building automation solutions, data-driven visualizations and other projects that add value to the department. The work will entail review of current workflows, identification for potential improvements and creation of solutions that streamline tasks across cash management, payments, forecasting and internal reporting.

Responsibilities:

The main objective/output of the internship is to ideate, develop and complete solutions for the team. Specific outputs include the following:

  • The project will include development of software tools to meet business needs. The specific business process to be automated will be determined per the team’s progress on its automation initiatives, but the intern is expected to add value through development of the solution itself and knowledge sharing of solutions familiar to the them.
  • Internal data standardization, project documentation and process mapping.
  • The intern, throughout the program, can independently evaluate and ideate projects that can be beneficial to the team or the department.
  • At the end of the internship, there will be a presentation of the projects that were done (may it be completed, in-progress or proposed).

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a Masters/MBA or PhD program, preferably specialized in finance, treasury operations or related disciplines.
  • Experience with treasury products and processes required to trade those products is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of digital automation tools such as Microsoft Power Platform (PowerBI, PowerAutomate, Sharepoint, PowerApps), Alteryx, Python, and other applicable systems.
  • Some relevant experience or exposure to AI and it’s application to business processes.
  • Shows initiative, brings fresh ideas to problem-solving, and applies a design-oriented approach when shaping solution
  • Passion for international development/area of interests.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Great team player.
  • Fluent in oral and written English.

AIIB is committed to diversity, transparency, and inclusion. We believe our strength comes from having a team with the right diverse skills, experiences, and abilities selected through a merit-based competitive process. We actively encourage applications from people from both within and outside AIIB members, regardless of nationality, religion, gender, race, disability, or sexual orientation.

Join in AIIB’s mission to promote sustainable infrastructure investments and to improve social and economic outcomes in Asia and beyond.
