The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Economics Department (ECON) delivers cutting-edge research to inform policy and investment decisions across the globe. Flagship outputs include the Country Net-Zero Reports and the Asian Infrastructure Finance (AIF) Report, which explore critical questions on infrastructure and its societal impact from multiple dimensions. This position offers an opportunity to work on high-impact research that shapes sustainable infrastructure development and economic growth across the region. 

Responsibilities:

  • Process and analyse large geospatial and survey datasets relevant to the topic under examination.
  • Conduct analysis using causal inference, machine learning, and other advanced statistical techniques.
  • Develop indicators of welfare and economic activity from satellite imagery and other sources.
  • Document methodology and produce visualizations (maps, charts) for research outputs.
  • Contribute to drafting research notes or report summarizing findings and innovative approaches. 

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a Masters or PhD program or a Postdoctoral Research Fellow program, preferably in economics, development, public policy, finance, statistics, data science.
  • Relevant data and analytical support experience in large international organizations, universities, research institutions, think-tanks or financial institutions is a plus.  
  • Proficiency in common statistical software, modelling software, and data visualization, such as Stata, Python, R, MATLAB, is required.  
  • Excellent data management, statistical and econometric analysis and/or theoretical modelling skills are required.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in geospatial analysis and data science will be an advantage.
  • Fluent in oral and written English and excellent communication skills.
  • Passion for international development.
  • High sense of integrity, ethics and accountability.
  • Ability to work well with a diverse team.
