This will include the implementation and management of: a) the corporate Document Management System for systematic and efficient storage and retrieval of documents; b) communication and collaboration sites via the SharePoint portal; c) a centralized knowledge base for technical papers, research, evaluations, and publications; d) a database of available e-learning resources; e) Yammer as an internal knowledge-sharing and engagement platform; and f) periodic health programme newsletters. For external knowledge management, the consultant will: a) provide quarterly updates to the Division of Global Communication and Advocacy (DGCA) on any changes to Health content on unicef.org; and b) support the development and management of selected external communication portals, including the Knowledge at UNICEF platform hosted by DAPM. In addition, the consultant will support coordination of Health reporting for the 2021–2025 Strategic Plan and facilitate successful knowledge transfer from HQ Health to the new CoE structure.

BACKGROUND

Purpose of Activity/ Assignment:

The consultant will be supervised by the Senior Advisor in the Office of the Director, Programme Group – Health (PG-Health), and will collaborate closely with colleagues from UNICEF CoEs and country offices, Unit Leads, and Knowledge Management focal points within the Health Programme Team, as well as with relevant divisions and offices across the organization.

Qualifications

Education:   

Communications, journalism, social sciences, public health, international development or related degree.

Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required *:

  • Minimum two years of experience in knowledge management, and utilization of specific knowledge management platforms, as well as development of KM guidelines and approaches is required.
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral), with track record of writing and editing content for knowledge platforms.
  • Previous UNICEF experience and knowledge of UNICEF’s internal applications (Drupal, SharePoint) is an asset.
  • Good level of digital literacy and familiarity with digital tools UNICEF uses and available KM resources: Digital tools: Power BI Dashboards, Microsoft 365 apps (Word; Excel; PowerPoint; SharePoint, including collaboration sites; Yammer; Teams; etc.)
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience working in a multicultural environment.

- Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed satisfactory deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.

U.S. Visa information:

With the exception of the US Citizens, G4 Visa and Green Card holders, should the selected candidate and his/her household members reside in the United States under a different visa, the consultant and his/her household members are required to change their visa status to G4, and the consultant’s household members (spouse) will require an Employment Authorization Card (EAD) to be able to work, even if he/she was authorized to work under the visa held prior to switching to G4.
