Result of Service

The consultant will strengthen the capacity of the investment promotion team to turn concrete renewable energy project opportunities into bankable models and the capacity to engage relevant investors to accelerate financing and investment in the energy transition and other SDG projects in developing countries.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the project coordinator, the international consultant will work with the Investment Promotion Section (IPS) to further strengthen the training programme on assessing and packaging bankable projects, tailored to investment promotion stakeholders in the beneficiary countries, and will support the identification and development of model projects — one in each country — that can serve as concrete references and be used by the countries to advance future bankability efforts. The consultant will in particular : 1. Using updated training material piloted in Ethiopia and Malawi December 2025), deliver the training in Malawi, Tanzania, or Seychelles. Support in the preparation of the final report of the training. 2. Support the identification and evaluation of at least one potential bankable project in each of the 5 beneficiary countries of the project aiming at pitching them in during the World Investment Forum 2026, planned for October 2026 3. Accompany the main investment promotion stakeholder or project owner in cooperation with the IPAs in each country, to assess the project bankability and design a strategy to attract finance, including identification of at least ten potential target investors, including institutional investors, e.g., sovereign wealth and pension funds. (WIF2026) 4. Deliver online follow-up training and advice to counterparts in each country for a maximum of 20 hours (5 per country)

Qualifications/special skills

An advanced University degree, Master, in business administration or international finance. At least 10 years of experience advising public and private sector on issues related to investing in and financing infrastructure projects, including energy projects.

Fluency oral and written in English is required
