Duties and Responsibilities

To amplify the Initiatives visibility, communicate impact, and better leverage storytelling, UNCTAD seeks to hire a Social Media & Digital Communications Specialist. Under the supervision of the Chief of Section, and in close collaboration with the Programme Management Officers in the team, the consultant will deliver expertise in the following key areas: 1. Enhancing online visibility and outreach 1) Develop and implement a digital content strategy, including a rolling editorial calendar, to strengthen the initiative's presence across priority social media platforms (e.g. LinkedIn, X/Twitter), applying best practices and analytics for content creation, storytelling and audience engagement. 2) Contribute to enhancing the visibility of the eTrade for all digital platform. Search and monitor activities relevant to the eTrade for all initiative, including collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing multilingual content such as news, events, courses, podcasts, and publications from all partners’ online channels, to curate high-quality, relevant resources for the eTrade for all online platform. 3) Propose innovative formats and opportunities to showcase results and impact- particularly human and business impact stories and features on members of the eTrade for Women initiative- ensuring alignment with UNCTAD branding and messaging. 2. Content Development & Storytelling 1) Draft and adapt platform-specific copies/content, using innovative formats to showcase the initiatives' activities and impact 2) Copy-edit draft inputs for newsletters and blog posts in accordance with established guidelines and branding 3) Create and maintain a repository of impactful human and business impact stories for eTrade for Women for use and dissemination across products and channels. 4) Create and adapt relevant content relevant to be shared by the Advocates and members of the eTrade for Women initiative. 3. Social Media Management 1) Manage all social media channels and draft editorial calendars, including content planning, regular posting, tagging relevant partners and stakeholders, resharing key partner posts, and timely online community engagement. Ensure consistency in branding, tone, and messaging across platforms 2) Moderate and engage with online communities, including entrepreneurs and partners 4. Partnerships support 1) Coordinate with UN entities, partners, and stakeholders for joint campaigns 2) Amplify voices of women entrepreneurs and partners as needed 3) Support digital coverage of events, including live content 5. Data Analytics and Performance Reporting 1) Prepare monthly and quarterly analytical reports to monitor the performance of the online activities, tracking reach and engagement across channels and identifying trends. 2) Use data-driven insights to refine and optimize content, formats, and posting schedules; propose adjustments to the strategy to ensure alignment with the initiative's objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Qualifications/special skills

A first university degree, Bachelor, in Communications, Journalism, International Affairs, Political Science or related field is required. At least 3 years of proven working experience with social media and content management calendar creation, posting scheduling including with knowledge of social media management/analytics tools, native suites, Buffer, Hootsuite is required Familiarity with the digital entrepreneurship ecosystem and/or women's economic empowerment is desirable Experience in working in international organizations such as the United Nations, Funds and Programmes, is desirable. Proficiency with Canva and/or the Adobe Creative Cloud desirable

Languages

Fluency written and oral in English is required. Knowledge of French is desirable.
