For every child, the right to a future

UNICEF has been in Venezuela since 1967, but it was not until 1991 that the first Country Programme, the framework document for its cooperation with national stakeholders, was signed so as to improve the situation for children and adolescents and to make progress regarding compliance with their rights.

The complex economic and social situation in Venezuela over the past few years has led to great difficulties for children and adolescents, especially the most vulnerable ones, in terms of having their rights to education, health care, nutrition, participation, and all-round protection recognized.

As a result, UNICEF has intensified its presence and support for young people in Venezuela in order to meet the rising demands in terms of health care, nutrition, education, protection and access to water, hygiene, and sanitation.

Today, UNICEF has presence with facilities in Caracas, Zulia, Bolívar, and Táchira.
