UNICEF Nepal Country Office is a medium size office that operates across multiple locations in Kathmandu and four field offices based in Janakpur, Surkhet, Bhairahawa and Dangadhi. The office size and structure of over 200 personnel comprising staff, UN Volunteers, and consultants are assigned to work in these different strategic locations to implement programme priorities to deliver results for children. Providing efficient and effective comprehensive operational services, support, innovations including specifically Information, Communication & Technology (ICT) and digital solutions in the different local/office contexts is critical and indispensable.
As part of ongoing organizational realignment following the recent Programme Budget Review (PBR), UNICEF Nepal is seeking a Digital Impact Officer on temporary contract to bridge temporary gap in the ICT unit.
How can you make a difference?
Join our team as the Digital Impact Officer to carry out broad ICT and digital impact functions and enable the provision of ICT and digital solutions and services and assist in the delivery of results in UNICEF Nepal.
You will lead UNICEF Nepal’s ICT function, provide strategic oversight and manage the ICT unit and team in close consultation with the direct supervisor/Deputy Representative Operations. You will collaborate with different programme sections to guide and support Technology for Development (T4D) initiatives that will strengthen programme delivery and create greater impact for children.
Key functions and responsibilities:
- Manage ICT infrastructure, networks, telecommunications and enterprise technology platforms.
- Ensure effective ICT service delivery, technical support, system availability and business continuity.
- Strengthen information security, risk management, system maintenance and compliance.
- Support the implementation of digital solutions and Technology for Development (T4D) initiatives.
- Provide leadership, supervision, technical guidance and capacity building for ICT personnel.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to advance ICT priorities, innovation and collaboration.

Minimum requirements:
- Education: A university degree (bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in computer science, software engineering, information technology management, business administration, or related social science field is required.
- Work Experience: A minimum of one year of professional work experience in information technology management and business operations in a large international organization and/or corporation is required. Work experience in a UN organization is required.
- Skills: Hands on experience managing wide-area-networks (WAN) including Meraki networks, knowledge and experience working on and deploying Microsoft Windows platforms and productivity products such as Microsoft Office 365, Sharepoint, Power platforms, Power BI and Intune are a requirement.
- Technical knowledge in using and setting up video conferencing systems such as Polycoms is required.
- Certification and/or proven experience in at least one of these several ICT technical competencies: ICT Project Management, Business Analytics, Information Security, ICT Audit and Risk Management, Telecommunications, Networks Information Security and Software Engineering and Programming is required.
- Language Requirements: Proficiency in English and Nepali is required.
Desirables:
- Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
- Experience leading and supervising a team is an asset.
- UNICEF experience is an asset.
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts is desirable.
