In Argentina, UNICEF implements its Country Programme 2026–2030, which focuses on strengthening public policies, expanding access to essential services, and reducing inequalities affecting children and adolescents. Priority areas include health and nutrition, education and learning, social protection and poverty reduction, and the prevention of violence.
Advocacy and Communication are central to achieving these objectives. The Communication team leads the design and implementation of media and digital strategies, campaigns, and content to position children’s rights on the public agenda, contribute to policy and legislative change, and influence public opinion. The team also manages media relations, supports partnerships and resource mobilization efforts, and monitors the impact of communication initiatives.
How can you make a difference?
Under the supervision of the Communication Specialist (NO-3), and in close coordination with the Advocacy and Media Officer and the Digital Communication Officer, the Communication Associate (GS-6) provides technical and administrative support to the implementation of communication strategies. This includes supporting the planning, production, and monitoring of digital and media content, campaigns, and communication activities.
The Communication Associate works closely with programme and fundraising teams, as well as external partners and suppliers, contributing to the delivery of high-quality communication outputs and to the effective positioning of UNICEF priorities.
Key functions/accountabilities include:
- Support the implementation of communication and advocacy strategies:
- Support the development and implementation of Digital Strategy initiatives and assist in the execution of online campaigns and digital pieces of communication.
- Test, do research and detect new innovations in social media, digital platforms and audience behaviors and collaborate with Youth Engagement area
- Provide general administrative support and documentation in various requests of online conferences, and maintain the team’s knowledge center, tools and resources

Minimum requirements:
- Education: A completed secondary education is required.
- Work Experience: At least 6 years of relevant working experience in communication, advocacy, digital communication, including social media, journalism, and digital marketing or related fields are required.

Skills: Strong and effective communication skills are required.
Knowledge in digital communication and digital publishing (tools) are required.
Attention to details is a fundamental skill. - Language Requirements: Fluency/ Proficiency in Spanish and in English is required.
Desirables:
- Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French or Russian) is desirable.
- A completed bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, public relations, marketing, digital marketing, advertising, graphic design or other field relevant to the position is an asset.
- Experience in communications or external relations is desirable, preferably in an international organization or multicultural environment.
- Experience in research and responding to queries is highly desirable.
- Experience managing social media platforms is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of graphic design tools and basic design skills to produce and adapt visual communication materials is desirable.
