The Senior Sovereign Portfolio Risk Officer will help develop AIIB's position on macro-risk considerations in the Bank’s sovereign-backed financing exposures specific to the sovereign ecosystem. The Senior Sovereign Portfolio Risk Officer will participate in and monitor risk discussions across peer multilateral development bank (MDBs), rating agencies and various specialized forums to strengthen the Bank's understanding of various positions of other MDBs, notably with respect to sovereign risk and the Preferred Creditor Status.
Responsibilities:
- Strengthen the Bank's understanding of the dynamics in development institutions and the various positions taken by major forums.
- Liaise and interact with external stakeholders; peer MDBs; supra and government organizations; and organizations involved in sovereign debt, including in discussions around restructuring, consultations with firms over sovereign exposure, and benchmarking and standardization of potential risk parameters.
- Coordinate closely with other risk functions in portfolio risk management and sovereign risk, including for developing narratives around the institutional position of the Bank.
Requirements:
- Minimum 8-10 years of relevant practical experience in an MDB or development financial institution, with a focus on sovereign and supranational, potentially including on the restructuring of sovereign debt.
- Master's degree or equivalent in quantitative disciplines such as statistics, mathematics, finance, engineering, physics, economics, or a related field.
- Good understanding of MDB ecosystem dynamics, including the role of the International Monetary Fund, Club de Paris, G20 Common Framework, Global Sustainable Development Report, and the optimistic concurrency controlmechanism.
- Strong theoretical foundation, and familiarity with risk methodologies.
- Able to build working relationships across teams and lead cross-functional working groups.
- Demonstrated experience, judgment, and leadership to execute diverse projects, and able to balance competing demands.
- Good understanding of the sovereign rating methodologies of credit rating agencies.
- Team player with the ability to communicate well with others.
- Strong organizational and critical thinking skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
