Senior Advisory Consultant, South East Asia
1. Project Background
AIIB is scaling up engagement with financial institutions and banking partners to mobilize private capital for infrastructure and climate finance. This assignment provides senior advisory support to enhance partnerships, deal origination, and structuring capabilities.
2. Objectives of the Assignment
The primary objective of this assignment is to provide senior strategic and technical advisory support to AIIB to: - Enhance the Bankâs engagement with financial institutions and banking partners. - Support origination, structuring, and execution of financial sector transactions. - Provide market insights and strategic guidance on banking sector trends, funding strategies, and partnership models. - Strengthen AIIBâs role in mobilizing private capital for infrastructure and climate finance. The direct beneficiary of this assignment is AIIBâs Investment Operations teams.
3. Scope of Services
The Consultant will undertake the following tasks: A. Strategic Advisory - Advise on AIIBâs financial institutions strategy, including prioritization of markets, counterparties, and instruments. - Provide insights on regional banking sector developments, regulatory trends, and capital constraints. - Support development of innovative financing structures, including risk-sharing, guarantees, and blended finance. B. Business Development & Partnerships -Support engagement with key banking partners (e.g., Bank of China, ASEAN banks, international commercial banks). -Facilitate introductions and relationship-building with senior stakeholders in the banking sector. - Provide strategic input into partnership frameworks and collaboration models. C. Transaction Support - Provide advisory input into structuring of: - Syndicated loans and A/B structures. - Multicurrency revolving credit facilities (RCFs). - Risk participation and guarantee structures. - Review and advise on term sheets and transaction documentation (non-legal). - Support alignment of transactions with AIIB policies and risk frameworks. D. Internal Capacity Support - Provide guidance to AIIB teams on market practices and structuring approaches. - Participate in internal discussions, investment committees, or working groups as required.

4. Consultancy Output / Deliverables
Deliverables include arranging origination opportunity and meetings, advisory notes, transaction inputs, and engagement reports.

5. Implementation Arrangement
The Consultant will work primarily remotely, with periodic engagement at AIIB headquarters (Beijing) or other locations as required. Travel may be required for meetings with counterparties, partners, and stakeholders. The Consultant will report to the Assignment Manager (Senior Investment Officer or DG-level).

6. Support to the Consultant by the Bank
AIIB will provide: - Access to relevant internal documents, data, and analyses. - Coordination support for meetings with partners and stakeholders. - Administrative and logistical support for official travel (if required). - Office facilities when working at AIIB headquarters.
7. Knowledge Transfer and Training
The Consultant is expected to: - Share expertise with AIIB staff through informal mentoring, discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions.- Provide insights on market best practices and structuring techniques.
Qualification Requirement
The Consultant shall meet the following minimum qualifications: Education - Bachelorâs degree (or equivalent) in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field - Relevant professional qualification Professional Experience - Minimum 25+ years of experience in banking, financial institutions, or capital markets - Senior leadership experience (e.g., CEO, senior executive, or equivalent) in a reputable financial institution Extensive experience in- Structured finance and lending - Financial institution partnerships - Regional banking markets (ASEAN / Greater China / international) Skills and Competencies - Deep understanding of global and regional banking systems - Strong network with senior banking executives and policymakers - Proven ability to advise on complex financial structuring and strategy - Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills Language - Fluency in English is required - Proficiency in Mandarin or other regional languages is an advantage International Experience - Demonstrated experience working in international or multicultural environments
