The National Consultant will provide technical support to UNICEF Turkmenistan in the design, layout, data visualization, and production of communication materials, publications, reports, and advocacy products across the sectors of Climate Change, Health and Nutrition, and Child Rights Monitoring. The consultant will ensure that all products meet UNICEF branding and accessibility standards and are presented in a user-friendly, visually engaging, and audience-appropriate format.

How can you make a difference? 

Main Tasks Related to the Job

 1. Climate Change/Disaster Risk Reduction

Support the development and visualization of climate change manuals, communication and advocacy materials under the Green School Programme and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) initiatives, including:

  1. Design and layout of Turkmen-language versions of Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) manuals across five disciplines (Nature Studies, Agriculture, Basic Life Skills, Geography, Ecology).
  2. Design and production of certificates, banners, posters, social media visuals, and event materials for the Green School Certification and the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction activities.
  3. Graphic design and visual support for the Green School Certification process, including assessment tools, communication materials, and recognition products.
  4. Layout, design, and finalization of the Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) 2026 Youth Statement and related advocacy materials.
  5. Development of campaign materials and visualization products for the school greening campaign across 120 schools.

2. Health and Nutrition

Provide graphic design, publication layout, and visualization support for nutrition and health-related products, including:

  1. Design and layout of the Recipe Book for Parents on complementary feeding for children aged 6–24 months.
  2. Design, formatting, and data visualization of the Final School Nutrition Environment Report.
  3. Design and layout of the Home Visiting Assessment Report. 
  4. Design and illustration of the Basic Life Skills Manual, including visual materials related to healthy nutrition, hygiene practices, and climate-related health risks.
  5. Development of infographics, illustrations, data dashboards, and communication assets that support dissemination of nutrition and health messages.

3. Child Rights Monitoring

Provide technical support for the visualization and communication of child rights and survey data, including:

  1. Development of communication and advocacy materials for the MICS Data for Kids initiative.
  2. Design and layout of user-friendly products presenting MICS+ findings for decision-makers.
  3. Development of data visualizations, infographics, fact sheets, web graphics, and digital content for dissemination of MICS+ Wave 1 and Wave 2 results.
  4. Adaptation of visual products for publication on the UNICEF Turkmenistan website and social media platforms.
  5. Support the preparation of presentations, briefs, and knowledge products based on survey findings.

The assignment will contribute to the timely delivery of high-quality UNICEF publications and communication materials, strengthen evidence-based advocacy through effective data visualization, and improve the accessibility and dissemination of information related to climate change, health and nutrition, and child rights monitoring in Turkmenistan.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

Minimum requirements:

Education: Masters degree in IT, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Social Sciences, Economics or a related field.

Work Experience:

  • At least 3 years of professional experience in graphic design, publication layout, data visualization, branding, and production of communication materials.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and formatting reports, publications, manuals, policy briefs, advocacy materials, and learning resources.
  • Proven experience in data visualization and infographic development, including translating complex data and research findings into user-friendly visual products.

Skills 

  • Proven experience of work in Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and other relevant design software.
  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, among others), email, and internet; and office technology equipment;
  • Familiarity with database management is an asset.

Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Russian, knowledge of Turkmen is an asset

Desirables:

  • Experience supporting UN agencies, international organizations, development partners, government institutions, or civil society organizations is a strong asset.
