Minimum requirements
Education:
- Msc in Environmental Studies/Science, Social Development and Safeguards Specialist
Work Experience:
- At least 7 years of experience in complex ESIAs and SEP (EIA for similar projects will be an advantage), at least 10 years of professional experience in environmental and/or social assessment of projects, with proven records of managerial experience in projects of a similar nature and magnitude; ability to work with government officials, technical specialists, familiarity with environmental and social assessments for equivalent size projects, and a proven track record in managing and coordinating a diverse group of social assessments for equivalent size projects, and a proven track record in managing and coordinating a diverse group of professionals
Language requirements
- The consultant/s will be expected to be fluent in English and be able to work closely with the clients’ staff and other third parties relevant to the assessment. All documentation shall be in English and work is expected to be completed within 3 months of signature
Knowledge/Expertise/Skills:
- Environmental and Social Assessment, Sustainable Energy and Waste Management, Social Safeguards and Inclusion, Occupational Health and Safety. Environmental Sciences and Natural Resources
- Expertise: 7-10+ years of ESIA experience, Experience on large-scale infrastructure projects in Africa, Experience with donor-funded projects (AfDB preferred), Expertise in sustainable energy and waste management projects, Strong stakeholder engagement experience
- Key Professional Skills: Project Management and Leadership, Analytical Skills, Stakeholder Engagement Skills, Reporting and Documentation, Multidisciplinary environmental and social safeguards expertise.
- Consultant should hold at least MSc in Environmental Science, Engineering or Natural Resources Management. At least 7 years’ experiencing undertaking ESIA studies in the water and sanitation sector for donor funded projects.
- Should be registered with Zimbabwe’s Environmental Management Agency (EMA).
Desirables:
- Prior work experience with UNICEF or UN organization is an asset.
Technical Proposal
- Applicants are requested to submit one writing sample (max 10 pages) demonstrating relevant experience in the development of technical and analytical documents.
