Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Information Technology Officer who will be responsible to set up, development, maintenance and update of the whole DRC-DDG IT infrastructure and network and related applications and services in DRC-DDG Offices country wide. 
 
Who are we?  
 
DRC is an international non-governmental organization, which promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced people all over the world. DRC is present in some 40 conflict territories around the world assisting displaced people with shelter, food, income generating activities, legal aid and a wide range of other protection assistance, Afghanistan suffers Long-standing armed conflict and frequent natural disasters have caused massive displacement over the past 30 years, affecting millions of people.    
 
To meet this need, DRC started up its Programme in Afghanistan in January 2011. The goal of DRC’s work is to promote durable solutions to refugee and displacement problems, on the basis of humanitarian principles and human rights. DRC works with the urban IDP case load but also with rural communities in Kabul province with a high return rate, as well DRC provides logistic support to UNCHR across the country. Sector wise, activities are mainly focused on protection, livelihood, community mobilization/infra-structure, and emergency logistics/response. These programs are funded by DANIDA, UNHCR, BPRM, and UNTF Europe Aid & ECHO.    
 
About the job  
 
Information Technology Officer is responsible to maintain the computer systems, ensuring that they run smoothly and providing technical support and advice to computer users, the IT Officer may also work within first or second-line support. The work is as much about information systems are used as applying technical knowledge related to computer hardware or software. 
 
In this position, you will be responsible for the following; 
 
  • Daily scheduled backups and device storage on two different locations in addition to ensure the administration and safety of web based cloud storage; 
  • To take security procedure for the system’s files; 
  • Troubleshooting systems and networks;  
  • Diagnosing and solving hardware/software failures;  
  • Focal point to Internet service provider to DRC all facilities; 
  • Solving problems regarding operating systems;  
  • Replacing computer hardware as required; 
  • Providing supportive documentation; including procedural documentation; 
  • Referring to diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system;  
  • Running network applications to support the system and users;  
  • Supporting new applications; 
  • Setting up new users;  
  • Testing/evaluating new technology;  
  • Conducting electrical safety checks on computer equipment;  
  • Maintenance and upgrading of the Navision financial database; 
  • Creating and suspending/deleting email accounts on DRC email system upon approval of CD/HOFA; 
  • Plan sites visits every two months; 
  • DRC IT policy is updated and approved by CD, also ensure the all staff are following IT policy; 
  • Control the DRC IT inventory. 
 
Key Deliverables:
  • Overall DRC-DDG Network Administrations including area offices; 
  • Data Protection and backup for DRC-DDG including area offices; 
  • Quality of service to all DRC-DDG Staff countrywide; 
  • Ensuring that the DRC-DDG IT policy is practiced countrywide. 
 
About you  
 
To be successful in this role you must have:  
 
Education/qualifications/Skills:
 
  • Bachelor in computer science, MCP and CCNA; 
  • Information technology; computer systems engineering; 
  • Problem solving skills; 
  • The ability to priorities the workload; 
 
Experience: 
 
  • At least 3 years of work experience in the field of information technology/Network Administrations and helpdesk support; 
  • Working experience with International Humanitarian organizations/NGOs preferable. 
 
Languages: 
 
  • Fluent spoken and written English; 
  • Knowledge of Dari/Pashtu is an added advantage.

Conditions  
 
Availability: 15 March 2017.  
Duty station: DRC-DDG Country Program Office, Kabul, with frequent travel to the field and provinces.  
 
 
We offer  
 
DRC-DDG will offer the successful applicant a 9 Months contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance.  
 
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for national staff.   
 
This position will be placed at salary level D1- USD 745 Basic Monthly Salary.
