As communications specialist, you will provide technical and operational support in developing, implementing and monitoring HR strategic communications and engagement campaigns, to promote HR initiatives that support organizational culture, change, results delivery and staff development. To achieve your mandate, you will closely collaborate with colleagues in human resources, communications and IT globally.

How you will make a difference

As communications specialist, you will provide technical and operational support in developing, implementing and monitoring HR strategic communications and engagement campaigns, to promote HR initiatives that support organizational culture, change, results delivery and staff development. To achieve your mandate, you will closely collaborate with colleagues in human resources, communications and IT globally.

  • Support and contribute to the development, implementation and regular update of DHR's communication strategy, in support of the Division's priorities and work plans.
  • Provide recommendations on the use of digital communications, social media, and innovative knowledge management approaches etc, to maximize the impact of DHR messages across the organization.
  • Coordinate a holistic HR outreach exercise; carry out media, information and other engagement activities, in collaboration with other communications colleagues and One HR teams.
  • Design, develop and disseminate impactful and attractive communications promoting DHR initiatives, targeting diverse audiences globally and where appropriate adapted to multiple media formats etc.
  • Provide editorial and operational support to colleagues in the development of internal communications.
  • Collaborate closely with other HQ Divisions and Regional Offices on media strategies, approaches and policies.
  • Identify, establish and maintain network with strategic stakeholders to communicate DHR's achievements to ensure their buy-in and support.


 
The ideal advocate for children has

  • An advanced university degree (Master's) in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or a directly related field(s). *A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with (2) two additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
  • A minimum of (5) five years of progressive, relevant professional work experience at the national and international levels in external relations, journalism, communications and public advocacy/affairs, digital communications, and/or in relevant field.
  • Experience in developing and managing corporate/non-profit internal communications strategies.
  • Results-oriented with a successful track record in designing, managing and executing media campaigns across all channels, including social media and digital.
  • Proven experience in strategic communications practices, including planning, and project management
  • Familiarity working in communications for a global organization, especially on large-scale initiatives, involving multiple audience groups.
  • Prior experience in communications for change management / behavioral change in support of organizational transformation initiatives is highly desirable.
  • Prior employment with the United Nations or other third sector organisation/NGOs highly desirable. 
  • Strong track record of innovative use of multimedia and social media to reach, engage and interact with a range of audiences and internal and external stakeholders in diverse geographical locations is an asset.
  • Superb English writing and verbal communication skills a must. Proficiency in additional UN languages (French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Spanish) an asset.

This position is classified as "rotational" which means the incumbent is expected to rotate to another duty station upon completion of their tour of duty.
