The Division of Finance & Administration (DFAM) at UNICEF HQ strives to provide relevant, accurate and timely information to the UNICEF executive leadership to facilitate robust decision-making and strategic direction recognizing the needs of children across the world. DFAM endeavours to further instil a financial mind set across UNICEF, influencing organisational behaviour and partnering with business owners to identify and manage risks proactively, strengthen results-based management, promote continuous dialogue on cost consciousness, and identify opportunities to eliminate redundancy and improve processes, including shared services. The Administrative Management Section deals with facilities & security management of UNICEF HQ premises, travel & transportation, diplomatic pouch & mail, documents & reproduction, administrative support of field offices, common services & facilities in field locations.

How can you make a difference?

As part of the Field Services and Inclusive Operations Unit in DFAM's Admin Management Services, you will provide crucial technical and managerial support to the Unit, to help achieve the UNICEF's goal for our global field offices to ensure improvements on eco-efficiency and inclusiveness in UNICEF's network and operations.

Some of the key functions involve as follows: 

  • Identify goals and targets for UNICEF's eco-efficiency and office accessibility strategy and track key performance indicators. Manage and analyse related data and provide technical assistance to regional and country offices to help achieve targets.
  • Providing technical support to UNICEF HQ, regional, country, and zone offices undergoing eco-efficiency and accessibility projects by capacitating local operations teams in energy saving projects. Review bids and assist offices to select contractors and service providers for such projects. Identify offices in need of accessible work spaces and staff well-being applications and liaise with HR, procurement and accessibility teams in HQ to facilitate such requirements.
  • Provide technical support to the Contracting team in Supply Division and coordinate the early-on application of energy and water efficiency features in new, renovated and existing UNICEF offices.
  • Actively contribute to eco-efficiency related inter-organizational technical meetings and working groups chaired by UNEP and the UN Secretariat.
  • Provide technical assistance to operations teams in completing applications to access the Greening and Accessibility Fund (GrAF) and manage the monitoring process of ongoing and completed projects with periodic reports.
  • Manage an inclusive and sustainable operations team.

 
To qualify as a Champion for every Child you will have… 

  • An advanced university degree (Master's) in Sustainability Management or a related field in addition to a degree in Architecture, Engineering is required.
  • LEED Accredited professional or BREEAM certifications are an asset.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and energy management software is an asset.
  • Knowledge of vehicle management systems is desired.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional work experience is required.
  • International work experience in energy efficient building construction, organizational greening, sustainability and energy systems is desirable.
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required.  Knowledge of an additional UN language ((Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is considered an asset.
