The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization experienced in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. In the light of the high influx of migrants to the Greek islands, NRC has started an emergency response programme on the island of Chios in mid-October 2015. NRC directly assisted over 70,000 refugees and migrants, working together with the Greek authorities, humanitarian actors and volunteers to set up and maintain a dignified and efficient flow of refugees from arrival at the beach, via registration and reception facilities, to departure by boat or plane to mainland Greece. NRC Thessaloniki is now looking forward to cover the position of the Support Coordinator to respond to the humanitarian needs.
The purpose of the Support Coordinator is to coordinate the support functions at an Area Office and load- off the Area Manager on support functions.
Member of the Area Management Team
Compliance with and adherence to NRC policies, guidance and handbooks and donor/auditor requirements
Provide input on operational support to Area Plan of Action, and to coordinate and align operational support with program plans at Area level
Responsible for ensuring quality support to project implementation.
Facilitate Area Support Budget, area level budgets, including support cost
Responsible for implementation of new country specific technical SOPs, guidelines and tools in Area (HR, Logistic/ICT and Finance)
Responsible for technical capacity building of support staff (HR, Logistic/ICT and Finance)
Take the lead on anti-corruption measures
Support Core Competency teams for effective procurement planning and definition
Build the capacity of CC teams in regard to NRC procedures
Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
Fluency in English, both written and verbal
Understanding of the Refugee crisis in Greece
At least 3 years of managerial Experience
At least 3 years of experience as CEO or director of a company and/or entrepreneur background.
Post Graduate Studies in Finance, Business administration, Economics or any related field
Fluency in Greek, both written and verbal
Excellent proficiency in Office package
Experience in audit and investigation is a plus
Knowledge of accounting standards and logistics procedures such as procurement, warehousing, fleet management.
Experience in human resources management, Greek labour law and Greek payroll.
