We are looking for a qualified candidate to be part of our DRC family and conduct duties in accordance with DRC Iraq programme Standard Operating Procedures.  
 
Who are we? 
Danish Refugee Council is a leading protection agency pursuing our mandate to protect and promote durable solutions to displacement-affected populations on the basis of humanitarian principles and human rights. In the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), DRC apply a regional approach with operational presence in Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey and Iraq.        
Present in Iraq since 2003, DRC is today operational in the Kurdish governorates, in and around Baghdad and in several South-Central governorates. Focused both on the influx of Syrian refugees and the current IDP crisis, DRC is providing assistance in a range of sectors including Camp Coordination and Camp Management, Protection, Livelihoods, Emergency Response (including food security, cash, and NFIs), WASH, Shelter and Mine Action. The Iraq programme presently employs some 450-national staff and 45 international staff, and is growing to meet new, emerging needs associated with ongoing and recent conflict in multiple locations. 
 
About the job:
The IT and Inventory Officer is responsible for the provision of IT support to programme and operational staff members, to ensure continued ability to work and maintain a secure and stable server network. He is also responsible to manage inventory in accordance with the DRC policies and procedures. 
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical IT support to all operational and programme staff located in South Central – Iraq.  
  • Review current IT set up and make recommendations for improvement. 
  • Establish a server with data sharing system and explore networking options for all offices in South and central.  
  • Ensure data backup practices are being followed 
  • Ensure DRC computer use policies are respected and followed 
  • Make assessments of any broken or faulty IT equipment and recommend actions for ways forward 
  • Organize and communicate IT equipment availability to staff 
  • Manage IT equipment on inventory 
  • Ensure software DRC procures is legal and adequate for the required usage. 
  • Monitor and ensure antivirus software for all DRC staff in South and Central, make recommendations for data protection  
  • Responsible for all asset management according to DRC Inventory Management Policy (update, tagging, listing, inventory, disposing, finalizing) 
  • Provide guidance, advice and support to procurement department for selection and installation, use and maintenance of equipment across the following technical disciplines: Information Technology, Communications, Energy and Electricity. 
  • Other duties time to time as directed. 
  • Assist in the development of databases 
  • Compile and submit monthly report to Line Manager.
 
About you:
To be successful in this role you must have: 
  • 2- 5 years of NGO/UN field experience in a similar position.  
  • Good communication skills (reading, writing, speaking).  
  • Ability to prepare weekly activity reports.  
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to determine priorities and attention to detail a must. 
  • Ability to work in a multicultural context as a flexible and respectful team player. 
  • Willingness to work in the field and travel when needed. 
  • Experience in running a Local Area Network. 
  • Experience in basic user support. 
  • Knowledge of network configuration including but not limited to firewalls, NAT and routers. 
  • Knowledge of the IP protocol and its concepts. 
  • Knowledge of server configuration including but not limited to installation, running, backup and patching

Moreover we also expect the following: 
Required qualifications:  
  • Relevant university degree or similar education 
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in relevant IT position, experience in the NGO sector is an asset 
  • Ability to do basic hardware maintenance - like changing internal power supply and the like. 
  • Arabic ( Native) & good English 
 
We offer: 
DRC will offer the successful applicant a 6 months contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from 1 June 2017 and be willing and able to work in Baghdad.
