In this consultancy role you will ensure the systematic, timely and efficient structures are in place to support the planning and coordination of private sector fundraising goals, with internal stakeholders, and National Committees and country offices. You will also ensure that internal processes are managed efficiently within the PSFR team and that work is aligned with PFP priorities and wider UNICEF priorities. Finally you will lead the delivery of key processes managed by the PSFR Section, ensuring that engagement with National Committees and country offices is focused, timely and effective.

This is a critical role supporting the delivery of billions of revenue from the private sector Achieving that goal requires the coordination of fundraising initiatives with over 50 National Committees and Country Offices and the management of internal processes that report on progress toward the private sector fundraising goals in the Plan. The post holder will report directly to the Deputy Director (DD), Private Sector Fundraising (PSFR). Under his/her guidance the post holder will lead the systematic planning and execution of key deliverables including the Private Sector Fundraising Section’s budget (US$20 million in 2016), and  support the alignment of national and global fundraising plans through the work of the Fundraising Think Tank(FRTT), FRTT working groups and the Fundraising Directors community. The post holder will also support the DD PSFR in coordinating PSFR efforts with the rest of Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) division and the rest of UNICEF, an increasingly critical function given the growing relevance of PSFR income and the interactions with other divisions such as Division of Financial and Administrative Management (DFAM), Emergency Operations Section (EMOPS), Division of Communication (DOC) etc.

How can you make a difference?

In this consultancy role you will ensure the systematic, timely and efficient structures are in place to support the planning and coordination of private sector fundraising goals, with internal stakeholders, and National Committees and country offices. You will also ensure that internal processes are managed efficiently within the PSFR team and that work is aligned with PFP priorities and wider UNICEF priorities. Finally you will lead the delivery of key processes managed by the PSFR Section, ensuring that engagement with National Committees and country offices is focused, timely and effective.   

Key functions will include:

Manage the development and monitoring of the PSFR Section budget (US$20 million in 2016).

 

Manage the development and monitoring of the PSFR workplan and inputs into the wider PFP workplan, including the integration of cross-section work planning and focus within the PSFR section.

 

Coordinate and manage key, high level discussions to ensure alignment between Global and National private sector fundraising goals such as Fundraising Director’s Meetings and the Fundraising Think Tank.

That will include managing at least two Fundraising Director’s meetings per year and three Fundraising Think Tank meetings, plus coordinating the fundraising component of other meetings (ED’s meetings, other Think Tanks, regional meetings etc); coordinate the management and delivery of the FR TT working groups, which include several meetings and conference calls during the year.

 

Working closely with the senior leadership of the PSFR section, support strategic planning processes, including the development of a new Private Fundraising and Partnerships Plan (2018-2021), and its attending strategies.

 

Support key PFP Division management process such as risk management, knowledge management and internal communications.

 

Support the DD PSFR in ensuring that UNICEF-wide strategies and plans are supportive of PSFR objectives, and improve coordination with all stakeholders; including communication, branding and digital strategies, humanitarian appeals and financing initiatives, etc.

  

To qualify as a champion for every child you will have…

 

  • Advanced university degree. Training/experience in planning or project management is an asset. A first level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • Minimum 8 years of PSFR work experience at an international or national level, 3 of which should have been spent directly coordinating projects or management systems on a scale relevant to this post.
  • Knowledge and experience of planning tools and best practice is required.
  • Knowledge and experience of managing complex projects and budgets is required. 
  • Knowledge of the factors that influence the successful implementation of Fundraising plans, and effective actions for managing the risks of failure are required.
  • Experience of working within an international fundraising network is required.
