The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water,sanitation and hygiene sectors.

The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs

NRC started operations on Chios in mid-October 2015 and has since directly assisted over 70,000 refugees and
migrants, working together with the Greek authorities, humanitarian actors and volunteers to set up and
maintain a dignified and efficient flow of refugees from arrival at the beach, via registration and reception
facilities, to departure by boat or plane to mainland Greece.

NRC is looking for an experienced Food Security Technical Assistant to join our team in Chios. You will be part of a team who its employees are dedicated to the day to day implementation of the Food Security Project.

Job description

Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
Implement delegated Food Security project portfolio according to plan of action
Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
Ensure proper filing of documents
Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and assess new and better ways to assist
Promote and share ideas for technical improvement
Maintains local relationships and liaises with other partners on distribution activities

Qualifications

Experience from working as an Assistant in a humanitarian/recovery context
Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
Some knowledge of English
Experience / knowledge in organization of food or NFI distribution
Experience / knowledge in monitoring of distribution program (data collection with hard copy form or tablet)
Arabic or Farsi language skills desirable
Greek or international driving license
