SCA Background

The Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA) has been working in Afghanistan since 1982, presently managing development programmes concerning Health, Education, Rural Livelihoods and Community Governance, with a total annual budget of roughly USD 40 million. The total number of staff is around 5,500. During the last 10 years SCA has undertaken a change process moving from a primarily humanitarian service delivery approach towards more of a developmental role, putting increasing emphasis on capacity development, rights-based programming and outcome orientation. The mission of SCA is to empower individuals, communities and local organizations, primarily in rural areas and with particular focus on women, girls, boys and vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities, so that they may participate fully in society and influence their own development. Scope of work:

The Under supervision of clinic head the incumbent is responsible for screening patients and delivery cases, dressing and injection service in the relevant clinic meanwhile also do family planning consulting and fill the family planning cards refer complicated medical cases to provincial hospital

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Graduated from midwifery institute
• Must be fluent in local languages (Pashto)
• Previous MCH experience is desirable
• Previous BPHS experience is desirable
• Willingness to learn new skills
• At least two years’ experience in the relevant field
• Good team work spirit 
• Being an Afghan citizen

Main Responsibilities:

• Work in prenatal and post-natal consultation every morning and fill Ante Natal Care and Post Natal Care cards.
• Refer the complicated MCH cases to doctor or Provincial hospital
• Taking an accurate history, performing a thorough examination 
• Prescribing treatments according to SCA and MoPH guidelines
• Do the delivery service in clinic.
• Make family planning consultation and fill the family planning cards
• For the children less than 5 years, make the growth monitoring
• Give first aid assistance and, if necessary, refer the patients to hospital in case of emergency
• Follow internal patient Department patients regarding MCH issues
• Refer malnourished children to Therapeutic Feeding Centre. Refer women to doctor in case of other medical problems.
• Refer the children and women to vaccination and fill register book and HMIS report everyday
• Give appropriate health education for the women and children, participate in the CHW training regarding MCH issues.
• Responsible for hygiene in the delivery room especially for chlorination of delivery room by giving Order to cleaner or guard
• Responsible to follow-up the emergency drugs stock in delivery room in   collaboration with pharmacist 
• Explain birth plane for pregnant women, also night or on call duty
