Under the supervision of the Immunization Specialist, the Immunization Officer will be accountable for professional technical contribution to project design, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and administration of Immunization (EPI) programme/project activities, including data analysis, programme support, delivery, progress reporting, and commitment for expansion of immunization coverage, as well as enhancement of teamwork and capacity building, in support of achievement of planned objectives of the work plan, aligned with country programme goals, objectives and strategy.

The Health Unit is part of the Child Survival & Development (CSD) Section that implement programme that directly impact maternal and child health with linkages to other programme areas.  The Unit works with government officials to support the delivering of the free-health care initiative including immunization and strengthening health care systems amongst other initiatives with other Implementing Partners in Sierra Leone.  Read more on our programme on: https://www.unicef.org/infobycountry/sierraleone.html

To make a difference in the lives of children and women in Sierra Leone, under the general guidance of the Immunization Specialist, you will be responsible for Immunization Programme by ensuring the following:

  • Programme Planning
  • Programme Management
  • Programme & Supply Reporting
  • Capacity Building of UNICEF team in Immunization Programming
  • Networking and collaboration of Donors and Implementing Partners

To qualify as a Champion for every Child, you will have... 

  • A recognized university degree in one of the disciplines relevant to the following areas: Social Sciences, Medicine, Health, Public Health, Family Health, Child Development, Nursing or a field relevant to international development assistance in Immunization and Child Survival & Health Care
  • Two (2) years of relevant professional work experience;
  • Experience working in the UN or other international development organization and/or field experience;
  • Training and experience in social welfare or immunization/healthcare;
  • Fluency in English is required and any local language will be an added advantage;
