This is a NYHQ position in Banking unit within Finance Section under the Division of Finance and Administrative Management (DFAM) reporting to the Finance Manager P4 Level. The Banking unit within DFAM’s Treasury & Structured Finance Section manages UNICEF's global banking activities with over 130 banks, including legal contracts, negotiating bank services and costs. The unit performs oversight and advisory function for 150 field offices including banking infrastructure and implementation of global corporate banking strategies to support corporate and local demands. Banking Unit’s specific role is to foster and maintain excellent relationships with bankers, brokers, internal auditors and UN Agencies. Ensures full compliance with internal quality assurance standards and external regulatory agency mandates including Know Your Customers and international sanctions; manages counterparty and house bank risks.

This is a NYHQ position in Banking unit within Finance Section under the Division of Finance and Administrative Management (DFAM) reporting to the Finance Manager P4 Level.  The Banking unit within DFAM’s Treasury & Structured Finance Section manages UNICEF's global banking activities with over 130 banks, including legal contracts, negotiating bank services and costs.  The unit performs oversight and advisory function for 150 field offices including banking infrastructure and implementation of global corporate banking strategies to support corporate and local demands. 

Banking Unit’s specific role is to foster and maintain excellent relationships with bankers, brokers, internal auditors and UN Agencies. How can you make a difference?

  1. Actively manage UNICEF’s banking arrangements ensuring application of rules, regulations, change to policies, procedures and systems involving more complex financial matters, as well as, system efficiencies and safeguard of financial resources leading to improved financial control.
  2. Risk Management: For all UNICEF banking partners, maintain a complete credit standing, bank charges, services offered, risk profile and banks strategic fit as a banking partner for UNICEF.
  3. Banking Agreements: Mange UNICEF legal documentations ensuring that formal banking agreement is signed between UNICEF and banking partners.  Review and assess existing local financial arrangements to ensure proper documentary and risk controls are in place.
  4. Maintain legal agreements in UNICEF Bank and Cash Management module (“Overture”), which is UNICEF’s database/data management system of banks and cash accounts, including signatory authorities.
  5. Bank Ratings Management:  Ensure credit/bank ratings are reviewed and updated for all UNICEF banking partners on an annual basis. Maintain bank ratings in UNICEF Bank and Cash Management module
  6. Bank Optimization:  Maintain an optimized bank accounts and banks strategy ensuring that the number of operating bank accounts are maintained at a minimum and with the best regional banks.  Reduced bank charges. Optimized cash balances across the world minimizing exchange rate risks leading to more effective and efficient cash planning & investment management – less cash in field offices.
  7. Systems Integrations Management:
    Manage systems integrations between, Bank and Cash Management module (Overture), HR, and FI, ensuring that bank signatories and cash accounts custodians are centrally maintained in Overture. Maintain integration with HR system to ensure Staff employment status are automatically updated in Overture.

To qualify as a champion, for every child you will need to have…

  • Advanced University degree in Finance or Business Administration including courses in Accounting, Banking, Finance Business Administration and Information Technology.
    Professional credentials or continuing education for the obtainment of such credentials is highly desirable. (i.e.  CCM, AAP;  or  other national   equivalents)
  • Five (5) years· of professorial work experience in field of finance and banking. Experience with electronic payment systems is also an asset. Experience in banking industry and/or international organizations is desirable.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of Spanish and French desirable.

This position is classified as “rotational” which means the incumbent is expected to rotate to another duty station upon completion of their tour of duty.
