Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Senior Specialist, HIV/AIDS (PMTCT and paediatric HIV care and treatment) and in collaboration with the Diagnostics Adviser and Point-of-Care (POC) Project Manager in New York and Diagnostics Country Support Specialist in ESARO the incumbent will lead the knowledge and communications component of a UNITAID-CHAI-UNICEF-ASLM Phase 2b (2016-2020) grant to accelerate the introduction and scale up of HIV diagnostics in 10 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.

How can you make a difference?

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Senior Specialist, HIV/AIDS (PMTCT and paediatric HIV care and treatment) and in collaboration with the Diagnostics Adviser and Point-of-Care (POC) Project Manager in New York and Diagnostics Country Support Specialist in ESARO the incumbent will lead the knowledge and communications component of a UNITAID-CHAI-UNICEF-ASLM Phase 2b (2016-2020) grant to accelerate the introduction and scale up of HIV diagnostics in 10 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.

This position is responsible for leading, coordinating, and facilitating the knowledge management and communications strategy and plan for a four year USD$95 million POC HIV diagnostics grant funded by UNITAID. The incumbent will deepen organization collaboration with core partners, such as the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), African Society of Laboratory Medicine (ASLM), and UNITAID, to achieve the grant’s key goals of the communication strategy which are to generate demand for POC products to accelerate uptake; maximize patient impact; and galvanize global support aligned with the UNAIDS 90-90-90 treatment targets for the sustainable implementation of POC technologies.

This will include:

• Technical Work on Knowledge Management and Communications
• Support to HIV/AIDS Section, Regional and Country Office and other partners
• Strengthen strategic partnerships

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

• An advanced university degree in one or more of the following disciplines: public health, public health administration, social sciences, or a field relevant to international development assistance.
• A minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible work experience at the national or international levels in public health, project design, knowledge management and communications, or monitoring and evaluation.  Experience in HIV/AIDS is considered an asset.
• Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
