Purpose of the Assignment:

The Construction Engineer will work closely with the Chief of Construction, the field supervisor/team and the UNICEF construction team to provide technical expertise in monitoring the construction works. The Construction Engineer will work closely with the local construction companies that had been awarded for the works.

Assignment Tasks:

  1. Ensure the technical supervision and quality control of the construction works in the new field office in Bol, providing technical weekly reports.
  2. Provide technical support to the construction companies, in order to respect the specifications mentioned in the technical file of the bid, verifying the utilization of the quality and quantity of the materials to be used, according to their offer or proposal.
  3. Undertake program visits and missions to implementing partners and program sites to monitor and evaluate implementation; prepare financial/technical progress reports in a monthly frequency of the field activities, identifying field-site specific constraints encountered in implementation and propose measures to address these constraints;

Expected Deliverables:

  • Write a weekly technical report and submit it to the supervisor

•  Make a monthly financial/technical synthesis and analysis of innovative actions in order to

   improve technical supervision and field monitoring

•  Hold a weekly work session with the construction unit

•  Conduct supervision missions

Qualifications of Successful Candidate

Education

The Construction Engineer should be holder of University degree in Civil Engineering or Architect

Years of relevant experience

Minimum of eight (8) years progressively responsible professional work experience in construction, civil engineering or in a related field.

 

Competencies of Successful Candidate

•  Current knowledge of the latest developments in the construction field, steel construction is

   an asset

•  Leadership and teamwork abilities.

•  Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious and

    effective working relationships both within and outside the organization

•  Willingness to travel and work under difficult conditions

•  Intermediate to advanced computer skills as AutoCAD, Microsoft Project and others.
